Break that fast! 5 places to grab a refreshing breakfast in Ahmedabad

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at GNLU chapter.

Everybody loves a good breakfast. Especially for the ones living in hostels who have to eat the mess food 24×7, there is nothing better than waking up to the thought of food of your own choice and (in case of GNLU) not dripping with oil. It takes a little effort to overcome that laziness, but I promise it’ll be worth it. Here are 5 breakfast places in Ahmedabad for you to kick start your day with.

That Place

Yeah, the name of the place is That Place. In all honesty, partly what intrigued me about the place was its name, and the menu is as fancy as its name. There’s something for everyone. From the ‘Hungover breakfast’ to Eggs Benedict and Cottage Cheese Salad along with a Pancakes stack, there is a variety of options to choose from. For non-vegetarians, there’s all kinds of chicken to pick from. Top it with the good ol’ tea, and you have the perfect breakfast right there.

Mad House Cafe

A small, cute and isolated place, with the charm of an outdoor cafe, this place has all the delicacies to satisfy your taste buds. Not very heavy on the pocket, the menu will definitely brighten up your morning. Also, since they serve breakfast all day, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a morning breakfast place.

Essence

Located in the Crowne Plaza on SG Road, this is a spacious place with the interiors of a fine dine restaurant. To complement it they have the breakfast buffet, which includes everything from bacon and sausages to ‘Indian breakfast’ options like dosa and uthapam. The buffet area has been divided into vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections with separate stations for customised salads, live cooking and a carving station to slice the roast meat according to the customer’s choice. You can also grab fluffy pancakes (eggless on demand) here, along with eggless pastries and a delicious rustic tomato soup.

P.S.: Might put a little dent in your pocket, so be sure to take some friends along who you can go dutch with.

Dakshinayan

If you’re looking for a place which serves delicious (not to mention, authentic) South Indian food for breakfast, look no further. From Andhra’s Pessarattu to Karnataka’s Mysore Dosa, Kerala’s Appam and Ragi dosa to Tamil Nadu’s Adai, Dakshinayan has it all. Parotha-Kurma and South Indian Meal Combos are on the menu as well. A modern, rustic ambience and reasonably priced food makes it the perfect place to go to for a Sunday breakfast/brunch.

Royal Punjab Paratha

Does your ideal breakfast consist of a paratha, butter, curd and a glass of lassi? Then we have just the place for you! Royal Punjab Paratha has all kinds of parathas. Name ‘em and chances are they’ll have it. Located behind the Videocon House, City Center in the Antrix Complex, CG Road, you will be able to grab delicious parathas which will satisfy that paratha craving. With seating space inside and outside the shop, it’ll certainly prove to be a pocket friendly and fulfilling breakfast option.
