If you haven’t already heard about the Swizzler food truck phenomenon that has recently hit Georgetown University, you clearly have not been procrastinating enough on the internet lately. Swizzler cooks up gourmet hotdogs, fries and other yummy bites right inside their bright-blue truck. Alright–if you saw the word “hotdog” and wanted to x-out of this page, believe me, I feel your pain. However, your image of dirty-water-dogs in Times Square could not be further off. These “dawgs” are made with grass-fed beef which means “happy cows and a healthier planet,” to quote the Swizzler dudes directly. They’re gourmet. And they’re absolutely fantastic. So get over your hotdog phobia right now.
What’s just as awesome as the hotdogs, however, is the backstory of the Swizzler truck. Although the food truck was founded in D.C., its story began at Wake Forest University, the alma mater of the Swizzler dudes: Ben, Zim and Jesse. The founders entered a contest during their junior year at Wake in order to–hopefully–win money to fund their trip to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. When they won the contest with their unique, twisty hotdogs, they realized their idea was kind of genius.
Now, what we’ve all been waiting for… Here is the menu breakdown:
The LDV (Leonardo Dog Vinci): This hotdog is topped with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, arugula and pesto. Yes, PESTO. This hotdog breaks all boundaries.
The Deacon: Topped with chili, coleslaw and delicious BBQ sauce, this hotdog is not for the weak. But come on–if you don’t love a good chili-dog, you are not an American. So splurge.
The Acropolis: This hotdog, topped with Tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, red onion and cherry tomatoes, will fulfill all your Greek food cravings.
The J(ersey) Dog: This hotdog comes covered in sauerkraut, diced onions and spicy brown mustard. A true Jersey classic that makes me miss home a lot. (Shout out to Rutt’s Hut in Clifton, NJ.)
**Don’t forget to order your dawg with fries. The truffle parmesan fries (that cost a mere $5, might I add) are easily the best I’ve ever had.**

How can I eat this heaven on a bun, you might ask?
- The truck parks right outside Georgetown’s front gates (37th and O) EVERY FRIDAY from 11 am-2 pm. Once you try Swizzler, I guarantee Friday afternoons will become your favorite time of the week.
P.S. You already know the guys who work in the truck are smart–but they’re also extremely cute. Hotdogs and hot guys: that’s what Swizzler does. I hope you all understand that reference.
