The Crepe Love Truck Set to Visit Georgetown

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Georgetown chapter.

This Friday from 11:00am to 2:00pm, join Spoon University at Georgetown and the Crepe Love food truck as they celebrate the launch of Spoon GU’s new website! Who doesn’t love crepes? I know I do, and that is why I am really looking forward to trying the crepes from this popular DC food truck. Last week I was lucky enough to speak to Mr. Suku, owner of the Crepe Love food truck and his Virginia store, Crepe Amour. Here is an inside look at what you will have the privilege of dipping into this Friday.

Crepe Amour’s story began when Sri Suku envisioned a brand that was based on a simple menu paired with quality ingredients. No stranger to DC food culture, Mr. Suku grew up in the restaurant industry, as his parents owned a popular Indian restaurant in Georgetown called Aditi Indian Dining. So naturally Crepe Amour first opened its doors right here in the heart of Georgetown in 2010 only steps away from his parent’s restaurant. Crepe Amour’s storefront has since moved to Vienna, VA. But over the course of four years, Mr. Suku and his cafe have developed quite a name for themselves here in DC, so much so that Crepe Amour was featured on the The Cooking Channel’s show Unique Eats.

Now Crepe Amour, which originally started in Georgetown, has entered the food truck industry. The Crepe Love food truck can be found serving crepes in Arlington, DC and Fairfax County during the week and catering over the weekends. Crepe Amour may also be found working with many schools and colleges in the community.

The Crepe Love truck offers French style crepes, which are traditionally very thin and can pack in an assortment of ingredients. The Crepe Love truck serves both savory and sweet crepes that range in price from $6 to $9, making them affordable on a college budget! Many of the Crepe Love truck’s menu combinations are internationally inspired, including crepes influenced by Italian, Indian and American cuisines.

The Crepe Love team uses two types of batter depending on the type of crepe: an organic buckwheat flour for savory crepes and organic all-purpose flour with a hint of vanilla for sweet crepes. The team also uses natural ingredients and has gluten-free options!

The most popular lunchtime crepe served at the truck is the Bombay Dhaba. This crepe is filled with tandoori marinated chicken, roasted red peppers, cilantro and spicy curry aioli for an extra bite. To learn about more crepes on the menu, click here.

In terms of sweet crepes, the best seller is one called the Carnivale, which features bananas, strawberries and Nutella. But the menu for sweet crepes also includes s’more, cookie monster and french toast crepes, which you can read more about here.
