Stoner or Not, Here’s 5 Reasons You Should Hit The Joint on Tennessee St.

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

I already know what many of you are thinking. Why would I ever go to the place that took over Atomic Coffee? Where will we all study and chill now? Have no fear, The Joint is here. And so am I to convince you in 5 reasons why your next breakfast or craft beer craving should lead you to the front doors of The Joint on Tennessee Street.

1. Florida Beers

Not one, not two, not even three, but five Florida-brewed beers are on draft at The Joint. A couple from Proof, a local brewery in Tallahassee, a few more from Cigar City, located in Tampa, and my personal favorite: Funky Buddha Floridian Hefeweize from Oakland Park. It’s as fun to drink as it is to say.

The Joint prides itself on being a local company offering local items. They are actually owned and operated by the same guy as their neighbor, and every FSU student’s favorite pizza joint, Gumby’s.

#SpoonTip: All my ladies out there try Stiegl Radler Grapefruit. It’s a fruity, less-alcoholic beer with fewer calories than the other drafts.

2. Breakfast All Day

You read correctly. Whether its 9 am or 9 pm, you can sit down and enjoy a Fiesta Skillet Scramble without judgment. Their breakfast menu ranges from Pancakes to Omelets to ridiculous “Sammies”.

My first visit I ordered the Reggie from the Sammie list. If the picture isn’t enough to make your mouth water, here’s a description: a giant cut of perfectly fried chicken, crisp bacon, melted cheddar cheese and creamy sausage gravy all piled on top of a buttermilk biscuit.

Run. Run now. Keep running and don’t stop until you get to The Joint and order one of these heavenly breakfast sandwiches.

3. So Many Options

Let’s switch gears. We’ve now established the Joint’s breakfast is something sent from the gods, yes. But their burgers and dogs…is this place even real?

The options for toppings go on and on and on…and on some more. Want to be a super foodie and get basil leaves on your burger? Go ahead. Wanna know what teriyaki sauce would taste like on a hot-dog? The Joint has you covered and smothered in options beyond your imagination.

4. Lucky Goat Coffee

For those of you who are disappointed in the absence of Atomic Coffee, let’s talk. The Joint didn’t just toss the notion of great coffee aside. They believe quality is important in every aspect of their restaurant, which is why serving Lucky Goat Coffee was a no-brainer.

I have also been told by other customers of The Joint that a lot of the same staff from Atomic Coffee stayed with the location.

5. Prime Location. Prime Hours.

A location can’t get much better than between Dewey and Copeland. We all pass the place on a daily basis and it’s a short walk from almost anywhere on campus. It’s also a hell of a lot less crowded than Strozier or Starbucks.

Open from 8 am to 12 am every day, The Joint is practically begging students to come hang out and study with their hours. There’s a long bar for cheering on the Noles, high tops, booths, and tables of all different sizes. Outside seating offers students the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful environment while still accommodating any kind of study habit.

There you have it, kids. I’ve only given you 5 reasons to hit The Joint, but I’m sure you’ll discover many more once you enter this new magical gem just walking distance from campus.
