If you’re like me, you’ve already started sipping cocktails by the pool at least twice a week. While Spring in Florida is the time for bright colors and fruity alcohol, all that drinking can take a toll on the beach bod you worked all Winter to have.
Smirnoff is the first value brand to produce a gluten-free and synthetic-sugar-free flavored vodka: Smirnoff Sourced.
All un-flavored vodka is gluten-free by itself. If distilled properly, it reaches at least 190 proof, leaving no trace of gluten in the finished product. When synthetic sugars are added as flavorings, gluten usually creeps its way in. Until now, no college-affordable vodka brands have catered to those who are gluten-sensitive or those who choose to live without it.
You have a choice of Pineapple, Ruby Red Grapefruit, or Cranberry-Apple. These three flavors were chosen due to their recent increase in popularity among consumers. I eat all these fruits almost every day, so I can understand why.
This Made in America product was released in January, right in time for spring break and the start of pool season. Because real fruit juice is used in place of fake sugars, it’s a little less sweet than your normal flavored vodkas, leaving you with less of a headache after a long day in the sun.
Smirnoff Sourced is already available to order in numerous places here in Tallahassee such as Prime Time, Backwoods Bistro, and Finnegan’s Wake in Midtown. You can get a bottle of your own at your favorite liquor stores like Seminole Discount Liquor, Half-Time Liquor, and Mike’s Beer Barn.
While The Strip doesn’t carry this product yet, my friends have started adding Sourced to their Y-Bombs (a Tallahassee original that is a part Red Bull/part vodka shotgun). Personally, the Ruby Red Grapefruit with a splash of soda or the Pineapple topped off with champagne have been the way to go for me.
Smirnoff Sourced is making drinking healthier, higher quality vodka an affordable option for college students around the nation. Get out and get your day-drink on.
