Madison Social has quickly become a Seminole staple. You can only find it in Tallahassee and it is growing rapidly in popularity. FSU College Town down on Madison St. is a growing part of the FSU experience and we couldn’t be happier about it. From Trivia Tuesdays, cool merchandise and monthly challenges to crazy good brunch, Madison Social has proven to be the jack-of-all-trades and master of all. They’ve created not just a bar, a restaurant and a hangout but truly a social experience.
The place is ran by two cool dudes who are Florida State alum, best friends and even though they probably wouldn’t admit it, total foodies. Matt Thompson is the managing partner at Madison Social and gave us a bit of background on their new menu.
When creating the new menu they wanted to make every menu item “more craveable, more approachable, and a bit lighter in some aspects but still in a scalable way for the back of the house”.
Madison Social serves anywhere to 5,000-6,000 people on any major game day and their menus have changed a lot over the past two years to reflect that.
Drawing information from their travels, his business partner’s experiences living in NYC and the culinary scene in Tallahassee, MadSo has created a menu that honestly is to die for.
Matt sat down and gave us the inside scoop on what you should be ordering next game day at MadSo.
5. The Fresh Catch
(Grilled or fried daily catch, basil-serrano slaw, ginger remoulade, brioche bun)
“It’s a fish of the day type of sandwich which sounds super basic but it’s got this ginger remoulade sauce on it with slaw that is absolutely killer. I love eating the fish sandwich.”
4. The Detox Salad
(Kale, shaved Brussels sprouts, cabbage, red onion, toasted almond, lemon-honey dijon vinaigrette)
“This is on the lighter side. It’s got a lot of shredded cabbage and Brussels in it. I eat this everyday for lunch because I’m eating terribly during the rest of my life.”
3. The AC Slagle
(Thick slab Nueske’s smoked bacon, fried green tomato, lettuce, roasted garlic aioli, grilled sourdough)
“This is a delicious sandwich. Slagel by the way is our kitchen manager and AC Slagle has kind of a Saved By The Bell ring to it .That’s where that came from.”
2. The Short Rib Tacos
(Ginger-braised short rib, basil-serrano slaw, pickled red cabbage, chipotle-lime aioli, indian flatbread)
“These 100% They’ve been our top seller from the new menu launch and they’re absolutely delicious.”
1. The MadSo Burger
(Fried avocado, maple-pepper bacon, aged cheddar, whiskey caramelized onion, rosemary aioli, brioche bun)
“This is number one. We sell a lot of them and I tell people all the time: don’t alter it. Give it a chance. Try it with the fried avocado unless you’re allergic to avocado. It’s not a burger that’s designed to put ketchup and mustard on. It’s just so good.”
