Liberty Bar Continues Expansion by Opening for Lunch

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

If you haven’t heard about Liberty Bar yet, you’ve been hiding under your textbooks for too long. Two years old in February, Liberty has become known for their craft cocktails and killer dinner menu.

Starting last Monday, the 7th, they’re taking it all a step further by opening for lunch every day from 11am -2pm. Life just keeps on getting better.

While they’ve never called themselves a Gastro Pub, their lunch menu resembles the type of food you might find at one. The menu is designed to have any item executed and sent out in 10 minutes or less, getting customers on their lunch hour in and out without having to settle for that McDouble down the road.

There’s the Francesinha – “Little Frenchie”

Piled high with pork loin, house made sausage, ham, and gruyere cheese, this heavenly sandwich doesn’t seem to be able to get any better. Oh wait…then they smother it in a homemade beer & tomato sauce. Liberty, you’ve captured my heart.

Then there’s the Lucky Goat Brisket Dip…

You can’t get much more local then rubbing your brisket in Lucky Goat coffee grounds. But you can get more delicious by topping it with gruyere cheese and serving a warm, thick au jus on the side for dunking.

The whole menu is a la carte and while the gargantuan sandwiches could definitely fill you up, I recommend trying their house-made chips and the seared brussel sprouts with apples and sorghum butter.

Woody, a server and bartender at Liberty, couldn’t have said it better: “Brussel sprouts are the comeback vegetable of the year.” You don’t want to like them but you just can’t help it. Liberty makes it easy, trust me.

If you aren’t in a hurry for lunch or you make it to Liberty for dinner, they have also just released a new Reserved Wine List.

Created by their Front of House Manager, Justin Grossman, the list is bound to have something you like as Grossman is a Level 1 Sommelier. In other words, the man knows his vino.

While I could brag all day about the ridiculously scrumptious lunch I’ve had at Liberty, you should just go try it yourself. Located on the corner of Monroe and Sixth Ave., the staff will welcome you with warm smiles and even warmer sandwiches.
