Here’s What’s Happening in Tallahassee on New Year’s Eve

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

New Year’s Eve. The most looked forward to evening of the year. When ladies get to wear everything glitter and guys can, acceptably, pop a champagne cork half way across the club.

Since New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite holidays, I wanted to share with all of you the numerous choices Tallahassee has to offer this year. Whether you want to keep it low-key, dress it up with the city’s finest, or even have the single goal be to forget 2015 in one night, Tally is offering something for everyone.

1. Tallahassee Downtown

Have family in town this New Years? Or maybe you’re just trying to keep it a little more chill. Then head to Adam’s Street on New Year’s Eve. It is FREE to all and they will be providing live music, food vendors, and of course fireworks at midnight!

2. NYE Bash at The Strip

For all of you Strip junkies out there, they’re having just the party. A personal friend of mine is throwing this party, and let me tell you, it’s going to be a sh*t show. Andre Saint-Albin will be the Guest DJ, keeping you dancing like a fool and there’s a FREE champagne toast at midnight!

$20 gets you in the door and gets you all you can drink. Yes. You heard correctly. Choose The Strip and your wallet (but not your head) may thank you on the 1st. It is also 18+, unlike many of the other events. While AYCD won’t pertain to you, it will still be a blast!

3. NYE Dance Party at Fire Betty’s

Calling all my Midtown goers. Spend your New Years at Fire Betty’s and you’ll get the awesome chance to recap all of 2015 in one big dance party! At midnight, they plan to do a ‘Flashback Friday’ with all the hits of 2015 playing for your enjoyment. Did I mention there’s NO cover charge?

Fire Betty’s, as well as the rest of midtown, is always 21+. My folks that are of-age and don’t want to deal with the babies will really enjoy Fire Betty’s. Plus air hockey all night long…yaass.

4. NYE Party at Brass Tap on Gaines Street

Thinking craft beer is the way to go on New Year’s Eve? Head to The Brass Tap on Gaines St where they will have a FREE champagne toast at midnight. This event is open to the public, so if you’re 18-20, looking for a place to hang out and chill, this could be your spot.

5. The New Year Social

You could spend the New Year at your favorite college bar, Madison Social. No dress code, no cover charge, all they ask is to be as social as you can. It’s 21+, as usual, and they’ll be handing out FREE champagne for a midnight toast!

6. NYE Open Bar at Mint Lounge

If you’re like me, New Year’s Eve is a night to put on your classiest outfit and drink champagne with your pinky out. Mint Lounge is offering the class, plus an open bar from 8pm – 1am for just $40.

While that may sound a little pricey, they are offering more than just well liquor. They will also be passing hors d’oeuvres (woo, food!) from 101 next door, until 10pm. Guest DJs will be keeping the party alive, and you also get one of the best views of the downtown fireworks. Tickets are available online.

7. NYE at Level 8 Lounge

This event is for my classiest gals and gents out there. Zip up your gowns and tuck in your dress shirts for a night 8 stories up. Level 8 will be the priciest of the events, at $50 a head, but the views couldn’t get any better.

Level 8 will be offering light hors d’oeuvres all night, as well as FREE champagne ALL night. They will be opening Hotel Duval’s ballroom for live music and dancing and will also have a DJ spinning at the bar.

If you really want to do it big this year, book a room at Hotel Duval and you get 2 free tickets to Level 8! If you do spend the money for this extravagant event, it is bound to be a night you will never forget.
