The all too familiar drunken stumble into the Tennessee Street Taco Bell is a late-night Friday tradition for some Florida State students. Imagine a world where you would actually get your drink on at Taco Bell instead of making the move there at 2am for some munchies.
Taco Bell Cantina is opening its first location in the Windy City. The Wicker Park, Chicago location is adding new alcoholic beverages, shareable appetizers and creating an inviting atmosphere with urban interior décor. Taco Bell will no longer be looked at as a drive-thru fast food joint but instead an eatery to sit down and socialize.
When ready to order, draft beers total out to $4 a glass. Spiking Mountain Dew Baja Blast freezes with tequila, rum or vodka is always an option. Rum and vodka drinks are $6.19 while the tequila is a dollar more. To satisfy all your boozy needs wine and sangria are also on the menu.
Pair some sharable appetizers with your drinks like chili cheese nachos, mini quesadillas or rolled chicken tacos. By the time drink three is finished, taking a look around you won’t believe you’re at Taco Bell. The inside decorations give off an upscale urban/hipster vibe with exposed brick walls and artist murals. Food will be served in plastic baskets, mirroring Chipotle’s serving style. Could this make a rivalry in the near future?
Alcoholic drinks are served in different and distinguishable cups while a bouncer works on the weekends to insure safety for all customers. The only downside is that Taco Bell Cantina wants to stop the fun and no longer serve alcohol past 10pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
A second location is opening up near San Francisco’s AT&T Park. I don’t think our Seminoles would mind Taco Bell quickly expanding its newly transformed fast food joints into restaurants that you’ll actually want to foodgram—#TipsyTacoTuesday included.
