Brides Are Saying ‘I Do’ with Pizza Bouquets Instead of Flowers

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

When it comes to weddings, there’s nothing a bride wouldn’t do to make her day something to be remembered and talked about for years to come. And what’s not to talk about when you’re walking down the aisle with a handful of pizza? Thanks to the Villa Italian Kitchen chain restaurant, brides are saying ‘I Do’ with pizza bouquets instead of flowers. To top it off, they’re even making grooms matching pizza boutonnieres.

There’s a catch though—you won’t be able to buy these at any of their restaurants. Villa Italian Kitchen announced this week that brides tying the knot before Sept. 30 have a chance to enter and win these exclusive pieces, which the restaurant claims is the very first of its kind.

The Giveaway

They haven’t decided yet how many winners there will be, but who’s to say you don’t have a chance? It’s free to enter and all you have to do is go to VillaItalianRestaurant.com/PizzaBouquet and list your wedding date and location. The contest ends on June 15 at 9pm, so be sure to send it in on time. If you don’t end up winning you still get a free voucher for a slice of pizza, which is all that matters (to me anyways). And this is just one of the crazy giveaways they’ve had so far. Back in April, they launched a pepperoni-flavored lipstick. That’s right. Pepperoni. Flavored. Lipstick. Nuts.

The Bouquet

Every Pizza Bouquet will be hand-made and delivered just in time for the ceremony. Whether it will be hot or cold is yet to be determined (yikes), but is said to be fresh for the actual day. The pizza itself will be “made from freshly prepared pizza dough, 100% whole milk mozzarella, fresh California tomatoes and zesty pepperoni,” the company said in a press release.

Final Thoughts

All I know is that if I had a Pizza Bouquet, I would low-key be nibbling on it during the ceremony. I doubt that will ever happen. It’s not that I’m against this in any way, because I’m all for having pizza at any given time, but a Pizza Bouquet on my wedding day? I don’t know about that. This is a bit on the extreme side for my taste, but to each their own. Besides, if you love pizza that much AND it’s free, then maybe it’s worth a shot. But personally, I’ll stick to my cliché of white flowers and have a donut wall instead.
