Since we are all in a time of self-isolation/quarantine/whatever you want to call it, a lot of us are using this time when we are not #WFH to binge all the hottest movies and series on Netflix and other streaming services. The shows people are watching span different genres, from reality to comedy, to fantasy/sci-fi. Watching something with Netflix snacks and drinks (whether it is hot cocoa, tea, or coffee) makes it that much better, especially if it goes with what you are watching.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Galaxy Ice Cream
This ice cream only looks hard to make, but I promise it is not hard at all, and is actually quite easy! It requires no ice cream machine, only a hand mixer, which I’m sure most of us have on hand (or a strong mixing arm!). You can serve it any way: cone, cup, or bowl and with your favorite toppings. It is magical, just like the show!
The Great British Baking Show: Lemon Blueberry Scones and Tea
In England, this show is called “The Great British Bake off”, or just “Bake Off” for short. Call me old, but there is something so pure about watching this show, set in the most beautiful location ever (rural England, where you see wild birds, sheep, and deer). Don’t get me wrong, the competition is not easy and there is more often than not a major time crunch, in addition to tough judges (I’m looking at you, Paul Hollywood). These scones are sure to land you a Hollywood handshake (for those who are unfamiliar, a baker gets a handshake when their bake is flawless and Paul is very, very impressed). Scones are traditionally a bit dry, made to be enjoyed with tea (you can use your tea of choice) or coffee (To have an authentic experience, I recommend Earl Grey or English breakfast tea).
Stranger Things: Nutella Waffles
Of course, the one thing synonymous with Stranger Things is waffles, and they have become the icon of the show, becoming more well known than the many other foods featured in the shows. Here is a recipe for some super-easy two ingredient Nutella-stuffed waffles that Eleven would approve of. If you don’t have biscuit dough laying around, here is an article showing you how to dress up and elevate the breakfast staple: you could go sweet with fruit, syrup, and whipped cream, or savory with chicken, the options are endless!
Parks and Recreation: Maple Cinnamon Sweet Potato Cookies
These cookies are a sneaky way to get in some vegetables (can be easily substituted with any fruit or vegetable puree you want), and they are also nut and egg free, making them allergy-friendly. These cookie would make Leslie Knope proud since they have the flavors of a waffle breakfast. Unlike some traditional cookies, these are not jam packed with chocolate or overly sweet-tasting.
Queer Eye: Rainbow Cheesecake
This no-bake rainbow cheesecake is easy and is as colorful and fun as the Fab Five themselves! They always have something to snack on while watching the reveals, so this is your own version of that! Here is the recipe, it is sure to be a showstopper!
Whatever you decide to make and watch, we hope you enjoy it and are staying safe during these confusing times. Happy Netflix watching!
