Beer just got so much cooler.
In New Zealand, a company called DB Export decided to create a biofuel that uses beer to power cars. They call this fuel Brewtroleum.
Apparently, this idea came to these guys in February after having a couple of beers (fitting, right?). Now, Brewtroleum can be found in Gull Petrol Stations around New Zealand.
Let’s back it up. How exactly is Brewtroleum made?
Well, it’s actually made from the leftover yeast and grains from creating DB Export Beer, which is also known as slurry. Typically farmers receive this slurry to feed their animals, but it’s not always used.
So, the guys of DB Export decided that instead of wasting the potential energy, they’d put it towards powering cars.
After they extract the ethanol from the slurry, they combine it with petrol, making their gas 10% ethanol and 90% petrol. Bam.
And according to DB Export, their product is the first biofuel made from beer byproducts.
The best part? These guys are actually hilarious. Watch this vid about Brewtroleum to see what I mean.
