This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at F and M chapter.

Whether you’re health-conscious or have a food allergy, we’ve got you covered. Here are 11 bakeries in NYC where you’ll be able to get your sweet tooth fix without having to worry about your allergies or diet.

Tu-Lu’s Gluten-Free Bakery

Obviously, Tu-Lu’s is a bakery that specializes in gluten-free baked goods. This means that their products are made in a 100% gluten-free facility, using only tapioca flour, rice flour and potato starch instead of your typical wheat flour.

Tu-Lu’s also boasts that their sweets don’t contain any hydrogenated oils or preservatives, and some of their goodies are even vegan.

You’ll find an array of cupcakes, cookies, brownies, muffins and other loaves in their cute shop in the Lower East Side. Go treat yo’self.

Erin McKenna’s Bakery

If you’ve got multiple allergies or dietary restrictions, this bakery is for you. Erin McKenna’s Bakery (formerly known as Babycakes) is gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, egg-free and soy-free. However, their flours are processed in facilities that contain hazelnuts, almond flours and soy, which means this bakery isn’t nut-free.

When I stumbled upon this bakery of almost all “-free” things, my initial question was: wtf does refined sugar-free mean for a bakery? Well, apparently it means that Erin sweetens everything with agave nectar, which is delicious. So bake on, Erin.

Her products include cupcakes, cakes, donuts, loaves, cookies, muffins, brownies and other pastries, like cinnamon buns.

Still questioning whether or not you can risk it? Check out their ingredient list to get the scoop on their sweets.

Jennifer’s Way Bakery

How can you not try a bakery whose motto is “food should be enjoyed, not feared”?  When a bakery is gluten-free, peanut-free, soy-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and Mario Batali-approved, you have to. End of story.

If you can’t make it to their storefront location, you can also order her goods online from her nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free and egg-free commercial facility. Plus, Jennifer aims to use only non-GMO, organic ingredients in both facilities. It’s a win-win, really.

Her sweets include muffins, burger buns, bagels, cookies and rolls, with even more goods online. What are you waiting for? Oh, and this is run and owned by actress Jennifer Esposito. Kewl.

Clementine Bakery

This out-of-the-way dairy-free, organic Brooklyn bakery is worth the trek. Besides their amazing insta-worthy pics, they try to avoid using soy whenever possible and you can order custom gluten-free cakes. However, they aren’t a nut-free facility, so keep that in mind.

Products include cakes, cupcakes, pies, scones, muffins, cookies, sandwiches and drinks.

Blossom Bakery

Blossom bakery isn’t just 100% vegan, but it’s also organic and kosher. You can place custom orders, or you can order from their array of cookies, brownies, cakes, pies, cupcakes and chocolates from their storefront.

They also offer classes on the perfect pie, cakes and cupcakes, and gluten-free baking.

I’d definitely go just for the gluten-free Butterfinger bar.

Dun-Well Doughnuts

For all of you who are tired of seeing Instagrams about donuts and wishing you could eat them, this one is for you. Dun-Well Donuts is a completely vegan doughnut shop, baking over 200 different kinds of doughnuts twice a day.

Just saying, some of the donuts they carry are Earl Gray tea, maple bourbon and Cadbury Cream Egg. I’m already halfway there, sorry not sorry if they’re sold out because of me.

Caveman Cookies

Don’t worry, Paleo people, I got you. Although these goodies are packaged, they’re still up to the Paleo diet standards. Oh, and they’re certified Kosher, GMO-free and peanut-free too.

Don’t know what Paleo is? Check out the diet here, or just know that these cookies are gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, sodium-free and cholesterol-free.

Find them at one of these NYC locations.

This old-fashioned bakery is the bomb.com. Everything here is made by hand from scratch in small batches. Oh, and by the way, it’s dairy-free and gluten-free (get it now?).

So go grab a cookie, rugelach, muffin, scone, tea cake, or custom ordered cake. It’s sooo worth it.

If you loved Rice Krispie Treats growing up, then you’ll love Treat House. Throw it back to the good old days with these kosher, gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free treats, made with homemade raw cane sugar marshmallows – aka marshmallows not made from corn syrup. If you have a severe allergy, be aware that some treats do contain nuts or wheat, but are properly labeled.

As if reliving the glory days of childhood wasn’t good enough, Treat House partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support families fighting blood cancer or donating to doctors who are trying to find a cure. Seriously, you guys are awesome.

You can order their treats nationwide or go to one of their storefront locations.

Pip’s Place
