The Best Gluten Free Italian Food Near Emory

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Emory chapter.

Coming to Emory last fall, one of my biggest fears was being able to find tasty, reliable gluten free options. Coming from the New York area, I love a good slice of pizza, but I know that finding good quality gluten free Italian food is not always easy. Being diagnosed with Celiac Disease when I was 5, I have had to follow a strict gluten free diet my whole life, and I worried about finding gluten free options in a new city. However, over the past year I have explored delicious and convenient gluten free Italian near Emory. Here, I’ve compiled my list of the 5 best gluten free Italian options near Emory’s campus.

Double Zero

Located in Emory Village, Double Zero is walking distance from Emory’s campus. This makes it an extremely quick and easy option for Emory students living on campus or nearby. While they do not currently offer gluten free pizza on their menu, they do have a wide variety of different pasta dishes, and they can substitute gluten free pasta into any of them (my personal favorite is the Calabrian Chicken). They also have a dedicated gluten free menu where they emphasize which small and main dishes are gluten free.

Fritti

Fritti is located in the Inman Park section of Atlanta, about a 15 minute drive from Emory’s campus. Immediately when you walk into this restaurant, you will notice the energetic vibe and atmosphere. All of the pizzas offered can be made using a gluten free crust and they taste absolutely amazing. Definitely a great option if you are looking to get away from campus for a night and have a great pizza dish.

EATaliano Kitchen

My friends and I discovered EATaliano Kitchen almost accidentally last semester, but we were so glad we did. If you are looking for a fun, but casual Italian restaurant, only 10 or 15 minutes from campus, this is the perfect spot. I personally enjoyed a delicious salad, and I was excited to see that they offered many gluten free options on their menu. My friends and I all thoroughly enjoyed the food that we ordered and the convenience of this restaurant. Great scene if you are looking for a quick and casual Italian meal.

Nina and Rafi

This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Atlanta, as the gluten free pizza at Nina and Rafi is absolutely incredible. Both times that I have been to Nina and Rafi I have eaten an entire gluten free pizza by myself with no shame. Another highlight of this restaurant is that it is located on the Beltline, a super cute location, especially to go with friends and walk around after on a nice day. It also does not hurt that it is right next to Butter and Cream if you need a little ice cream after your dinner. 10/10 would recommend the delicious gluten free pizza here.

Figo Pasta

Finally, my last recommendation is Figo Pasta. Although I have never physically been, I have ordered their gluten free pasta on Doordash and it was delicious. Figo has a wide variety of sauces to choose from and customize with their gluten free pasta. Would definitely recommend for any other Emory students like me who enjoy a good bowl of pasta!
