Zoni Foods is a frozen meal kit company that supplies nutritious, plant-based food that is not only healthy for us but the planet too. Every frozen meal kit contains a full serving of plant-based proteins, starches, and a unique nut based sauce. These frozen meal kits are super easy to make, all it takes is 10 minutes on the stove and your meal is done. Zoni has three kits to choose from, Coconut Curry Noodles, Sweet Potato Spirals, and Zesty Peanut Noodles. Zoni Foods has provided us with two of their kits, Coconut Curry Noodles and Zesty Peanut Noodles, to try.
A perk to these chef created meal kits is that they only require a pan, and 10 minutes of your time. The founders, Zoe and Nilofer, intended for these kits to be easy and healthy so that they fit with even the busiest schedules. Their goal was to make plant-based food more accessible so that we can help reduce the impact that our diets have on both animals and the environment, while at the same time improving human health.
Coconut Curry Noodles
Ingredients: Carrot, zucchini, coconut cashew curry, spiced chickpeas
The Coconut Curry Meal kit comes with a packet of carrots and zucchini noodles, a packet of spicy chickpeas, and a coconut cashew curry sauce.
This plant based meal kit is a great way to add more vegetables into your diet that you don’t usually eat. Replacing regular pasta based noodles with carrots and zucchini is a great way to incorporate more vegetables and less carbs. People are often hesitant when buying products that have words that involve “spice” however the chickpeas were perfectly seasoned and added great flavor to go along with the colorful assortment of food. Both the carrots and zucchini tasted fresh, and filling. The coconut really added a little extra flavor and creaminess to the whole meal as well.
Zesty Peanut Noodles
Ingredients: Soba noodles, peanut sauce, black bean fritters
The Zesty Peanut Noodle kit comes with a packet of peanut noodles, two black bean fritters, and a sauce packet. The chefs recommend to add red pepper flakes or thai basil for an extra kick. If you’re looking to add more protein try a fried egg on top.
The soba noodles taste just like regular pasta! They are a great healthy alternative to regular pasta and a great first choice for vegans. The flavor packet had a strong peanut aroma however the taste was not overwhelming at all and added a nice zest to the overall dish. The black bean fritters had the same consistency as a meatball but without any of the meat. This kit was very filling, unlike most frozen meals that feel like a snack instead of a full portion.
