If you’re anything like me, you got tired of Emerson food about halfway through the year. So while I ran out of board bucks at the end of my first semester, I had way too many left at the end of my second. Especially after checking out all the cool restaurants Boston has to offer.
Unfortunately, board bucks do not carry over into the next academic year and they were a pretty expensive part of your meal plan. Here’s some suggestions for what to do with those unused board bucks a few weeks before the school year ends.
1. Stock up on Energy for Finals

I’m pretty sure Emerson has some sort of deal with Red Bull because I actually found a box of it in my desk drawer on move in day (as did all of the Active Living floor). While I’m personally not a fan, you could certainly use that unspent cash to stay up late studying for those finals. Maybe even offer some refreshments on your late night last minute film set. Your crew will thank you.
(On the flip side, you could also attempt to make chicken wings using Red Bull, so there’s that.)
2. Stress Binge

Probably not recommended, but the C-store has tons of cookies and chips and ice cream for you to get while you’re studying for finals, AKA cramming at one in the morning.

3. Host a ‘Party’

Leader of a club? Got friends in general? Host an end of the year party and include multiple bags of chips courtesy of the C-store and encourage members to take unfinished bags back with them. Congratulations, you’re now the most popular member of your social circle.
4. Offer to Buy Others Food

Another choice guaranteed to make you popular is buying food, like bagels from EmCaf, for those people that somehow managed to get rid of all their board bucks already. I mean, who doesn’t want free food?
5. The ‘Be a Good Person!’ Option

There’s this program started by some Emerson alum called Board Bucks for Boston. Using your board bucks you can buy food for those in need. Personally, I find this to be the best option because nothing is going to waste and you did some good for people who really need it. Learn more about Board Bucks for Boston here.
