My Experience
From the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out, I could not have been happier with my experience at Catch NYC. Among the food, the service, and ambiance, it was an amazing dining experience.
Upon walking in, I was greeted politely by the hostess, who directed my friend and me to wait at a barstool table until the rest of our party arrived. While waiting, I looked around at everyone’s tables and began to gather opinions from other customers, who seemed nothing less than satisfied. I had scoped about what the best dishes were to order.
I also had walked around to fully experience the bustling atmosphere, which was filled with vibrant people and rustic decor. The exposed brick walls and iron railings leading up to the third-floor club gave the restaurant an inviting, rustic feel.
We were seated immediately when the third member of our party had arrived. The speedy and friendly wait staff was beyond impressing. Our waiter even put the time aside to engage in conversation and happily explained menu items, along with his personal recommendations, in depth.
What I Ordered
Next came my favorite part of the night — the food! For an appetizer, the table split the lobster mac and cheese, which was to die for. Before the waiter could return to check how it was, the bowl had been devoured.
For the main course, I ordered the Mahi Mahi wonton tacos with guacamole, tomtatillo, pickled onion, and lime. They were by far the greatest fish tacos I ever had. My friend ordered the Wagyu short rib tacos with grilled pineapple, pickled vegetable, and ginger aioli, which he said was unreal. My other friend ordered the crispy shrimp with spicy mayo, which I actually had the opportunity to try, and again, it was extremely delicious.
The table also split an order of truffle fries, which added the perfect crunch to our meals.
Though I was stuffed, I could not leave Catch without trying their infamous dessert— the “Hit Me” chocolate cake. An aesthetic liquid “Klondike” with roasted white chocolate ice cream, a brownie, and devil’s food cake, this tantalizing combination makes for the perfect DSCO to add to your VSCO feed.
With a successful fusion of great food, service, and an exceptional ambiance, Catch NYC does it like no other seafood restaurant in the Meatpacking District.
