4 Reasons We Can’t Seem to Stop Snapchatting Our Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Elon chapter.

You mean you don’t care what your friends eat every day? Well, Snapchat says otherwise and is filled with endless stories of delicious donuts, Starbucks cups, and gourmet meals. You can’t deny that you’ve never taken a picture of your food before devouring it, so we’ve come up with the four main reasons our generation feels inclined to do so.

1. Filters are pretty

Snapchat filters make everything look more appealing. Granted, that three scoop waffle cone looks and tastes amazing without the filter, but swiping left and enhancing those rainbow sprinkles makes your cold treat look even more scrumptious.

2. We love to share our excitement

We’re true foodies here at Spoon University, so we understand the thrill behind ordering a delicious meal. Our lives revolve around sharing our excitement for food with all of you, so we’re enticed to document the exact moment a drool worthy meal is placed in front of us. Snapchatting food is a way to get creative and spread awareness of our unique meals.

3. It can be informative

People often update their stories to keep their friends posted on their daily activities. Repeatedly Snapchatting your meals keeps you prevalent on your friends newsfeed and known through your food adventures.

4. We want to make people a little jealous

The food we eat says a lot about our travels and experiences. Adding a geofilter updates your friends on your current location, forcing them to tag along on your various adventures. Even though your gourmet meals may make others drool just by looking at your story, remember to cherish these moments and not get caught up in what others think.
