Finding a delicious and cheap breakfast place is not always the easiest thing, especially on a college budget. But now you know the best go to place, Syrup. The restaurant was started by Tim Doherty, who started to make his own homemade syrups. It is a new take on the classic breakfast restaurant with creative combos for waffles, pancakes, toast, and everything else you could want.
From the minute you walk in Syrup you are greeted with the smell of delicious homestyle breakfast. The restaurant has a cute look and cozy style to it making you feel like you are back at home having breakfast. All the employees are wearing shirts that say “Buy Local Hash” with the name of the restaurant and logo on the back.
#SpoonTip You can also get one of the Buy Local Hash shirts up front in an array of colors and styles.
The menu is unique and is made out of flip cards instead of opening up like a book. It shares the story of Syrup and even answers some funny questions in the Q&A tab. They have delicious homemade juice and waffles, pancakes, and french toast galore. There are even two entire sections dedicated to just egg based dishes: Eggs Benedict and Omelets. And if you aren’t in the mood for breakfast they have burgers and salads to choose from as well.
#SpoonTip When flipping through the menu make sure to look at the Q&A page for a good laugh.
The Fosters, French Toast Style
The foster is a meal where you choose your breakfast favorite, and they cook it up with maple syrup and bananas. It can be chosen as french toast, buttermilk pancakes, buckwheat pancakes, or a waffle. It can also be made as a gluten free style pancake or waffle. The french toast has a nice mix of sweet and sour with the bread mixing with the bananas and syrup. It is also as fantastic as pancakes. Always a go to favorite.
The Wisconsin Style Eggs Benedict
This is one of the many types of Eggs Benedict that Syrup has to offer. This one is two poached eggs in Hollandaise Sauce. It also has fresh and natural ham and cheddar cheese added into the mix. And on the side is their delicious smashed tater tots to go with it.
The Elvis French Toast
This King’s take on classic french toast is everything you could want in a sweet and savory sandwich. In tribute to Elvis this french toast sandwich is filled with peanut butter, chopped bacon, and bananas. No better way to get in protein while having a sweet treat in the morning. This Elvis french toast sandwich will make it so you never want to leave the building.
Double Berry Bliss Pancake Style
Just like The Foster french toast you can get this as pancakes, waffles, or french toast. These buttermilk pancakes come with fresh blueberries and strawberries galore. Then to make it even better there is whipped cream on top to add to the sweetness.
Smashed Tater Tots
These tater tots are to die for. These are a side on many of the sandwiches and Eggs Benedict, but are also just as good by themselves. They are light with a perfect amount of crunch to them. These alone are good enough to be your entire meal.
So the next time you and some friends are looking for a new breakfast place to go to, make sure you guys go to Syrup. They have something for everybody, take it from me the picky vegetarian. They have plenty of types of foods to try from breakfast classics, to new inventive types of breakfast food. Try something new and come with an empty stomach.
#SpoonTip Call right as you are leaving so they can put you on the list then, and once you get there check in so you don’t have to wait in line as long.
