The 5 best things to buy at Milburn Orchard

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Delaware chapter.

It’s October in Delaware which means mid terms are around the corner, sweater weather is in full swing, and pumpkin spice lattes can be found everywhere on campus.

Looking for a quick day trip

1. Apple Cider Doughnuts

These are always a favorite; for all ages. Inside the orchard market, there are always two cabinets filled to the brim with these doughnuts. The fresh and warm cake is topped with a sugary cinnamon touch, that will always leave you wanting more. With the doughnuts priced at 97 cents per dessert, you will be encouraged to buy a bagful. It will be worth it.

2. Apples

People can go pick their own apples in the Milburn apple orchards. This activity makes for a great family day trip or a trip to plan with an organization on campus. A quick hay ride will take you to the orchards where you can hand pick your own delicious apples. With a variety of kinds of apples, along with shapes and sizes, you will find an apple for everyone!

3. Pies

Milburn Orchard has over 22 flavors of pie seasonally. You can find this dessert in the Farm Market Bake Shoppe where dozens of fresh pies are located and made fresh daily. Pumpkin, Apply, Cherry, and Blueberry are some of the favorites. The pies can be bought and then thrown in the oven for twenty minutes.

4. Apple Cider

A signature product that Milburn prides itself on is their Apple Cider. The cider is made from 3- 4 varieties of their apples. They are blended and crafted together to create a special and unique cider flavor. The drink is smooth and delicious and is avalible during apple season all the way until December. This gives you many months for apple cider.

5. Breads

Banana bread, pumpkin bread, lemon bread, zucchini bread, chocolate chip bread; all can be found at Milburn Orchards. Made daily, the wide variety of desserts can be bought for a small price and last for days. I always stock up to share with friends, enjoy for a late night snack, or heat up for a Saturday morning breakfast.
