Too lazy to wait in line at the Hop or Novack? Not in the mood to push through Collis for an omelet? Avoiding another round of food coma at Foco?
The upcoming The Box food truck is bringing students the variety and convenience they have been craving for. The Box will launch on the first day of spring term, March 24, after a year of development through the collaboration of Tuck and undergraduate students led by co-founders Eric Winn ’04 ‘14Tu and Mike Parshley ‘14Tu.
Their Mediterranean-inspired menu will include crushed falafel sandwich, handmade pita bread and tsatsiki. Of course there is hummus.
On February 3, The Box hosted their Open House to invite students to join their team. Interested students have the opportunity to work in the truck, prep kitchen or alongside head chef Tyler Harvey as sous chef.
Students can also develop business experience through a rotational system through The Box’s various departments, such as finance, marketing and operations. Undergraduate students also have the chance to work with Tuck students.
“We want to create value well beyond the paycheck,” Eric said.
What better way is there to get involved with food besides working in food? Not only will you have a great story to share over the dinner table, but you will also be the one behind The Box’s delicious food.
Their giant chocolate chip salted oat cookies for late night snacks were to die for at the Open House: crispy yet with a touch of saltiness to balance the chocolate goodness.
Applications to work on The Box are available here and are due on Monday, February 10 at 11:59 pm. Interviews will follow after application submission. Training will begin early March and continue through spring break. Pay will range from $9-14 per hour depending on experience and commitment.
