8 Ways to Add More Beer to Your Diet

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Dartmouth chapter.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and you know what that means: an excuse for beer, more beer and even more more. It’s a holiday that pretty much shouts “Hey there Dartmouth or any other college! You should celebrate me; I’m lots of fun,” and boy do we celebrate it. I think another name for this glorious day could be Beer Appreciation Day; you can’t go a St. Patrick’s Day (or more accurately a St. Patrick’s Weekend) without coming across the familiar beer in a mug, a glass or a bottle from its many loyal fans. Join in the festivities with these perfect for St. Patty’s beer infused recipes.

1. Beer-Braised Beef

2. Beer Gravy

While you’re putting in all that effort into making beer-braised beef, might as well top it off with some beer gravy because what’s a better pairing than beef and gravy? Beef, gravy and beer.

3. Beer Fries

I can’t “beer” to be without these fries. And potatoes=Irish, right? So beer fries=St. Patricks Day?

It’s important to have beer in all your St. Patrick’s Day meals so start off the day St. Patty’s way with these Guinness based muffins. Plot twist: this recipe only calls for 3 ingredients and one of them is beer.

5. Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Beer Bread

This recipe take cookie dough, adds beer and makes bread. Now that’s what I call some serious Irish [not really] Soda Bread.

6. Chocolate Stout Cupcakes

Fun Fact: the Irish have really good chocolate. They also have really good beer. They also celebrate St. Patricks Day and eat food. So naturally you should eat some chocolate stout cupcakes on St. Patricks Day.

Quite literally putting the beer in root beer floats and making them adult-friendly again.

Guinness is St. Patrick’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day is Guinness. It may just be the sugar and beer talking, but this concoction may be the real Luck of the Irish.
