Cinco de Mayo means finding a restaurant that will give you the most guacamole for your buck. Cinco de Mayo, falling on May 5th, is a Mexican holiday that commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over France in 1862. Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a popular celebration of the Mexican culture all over America, and has given us yet another excuse to eat tacos. Here are a few great spots that will satisfy your Cinco de Mayo cravings.
1. Taco Del Mar
If you’re looking for fish tacos, this beach inspired restaurant should be on the top of your list. Their first location opened in Seattle in 1992, and has been serving delicious Mexican food in their many locations across America ever since.
2. Habaneros Modern Taco Bar
Habaneros offers a modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine, with healthy, locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Whether you’re getting tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or a bowl, you can’t go wrong with their BBQ pulled pork and signature lime & cilantro sour cream.
3. Mexicali Rosa’s
On a nice sunny day, Mexicali Rosa’s is definitely the best spot to enjoy some nachos and margaritas on a patio. They have a large menu with everyone’s Mexican favourites…you’ll have a hard time choosing which nachos and cocktails to order.
4. La Cantina
La Cantina is a taco stand in the North end, serving spicy and creative tacos every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-9pm. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try their “Chapulines”, roasted crickets in chili lime powder.
5. Dee Dee’s Ice Cream
Dee Dee’s is famous for their delicious handcrafted ice cream. BUT it gets way better than that with their awesome burritos also available. So if you have a big sweet tooth, make sure to get their Mexican ice cream (dark chocolate with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne) along with a burrito.
