The 7 Best Places for Frozen Treats in Halifax

It’s summer and you’re craving ice cream. Sure, you may have that beach trip planned for next weekend, but ultimately summer is the absolute best time to treat yourself. Luckily, for us Dalhousie students, Halifax has more than enough wonderful places you can go to grab a delicious frozen dessert.

1. Goji’s Frozen Yogurt

Located in the heart of downtown Halifax and blessedly open until 11 pm, Goji’s is easily accessible to Dalhousie students. They offer so many delicious flavours. and there’s even one made with almond milk.

2. Humani-T Café

Not only is Humani-T one of Halifax’s best coffee shops, it’s also home to some of the most delicious gelato the city has to offer.

3. Cows

Cows is located right on the water, and in the summer months it seems like there’s always a line out the door. But don’t let that deter you because there’s a reason for it. This location sells some hilariously punny T-shirts along with its world-class ice cream.

4. Black Bear Ice Cream

This ice cream shop is located directly on the boardwalk and is perfect for your next stroll down the Halifax waterfront.

5. Dee Dee’s

This amazing location won best ice cream in Halifax in 2014, and it isn’t hard to see why. With innovative flavours such as the spicy yet sweet Mexican chocolate and a variety of sorbets, it’s well deserving of its title. Throw in the fact that the location also sells burritos and you’ve got yourself a new place to visit ASAP.

6. Fox Hill Cheese House

This shop is located right in the Halifax farmers market, and is known for its thick and creamy gelato. Next time you and your friends decide to take a day trip to the market, be sure to give this place a try.

7. Darrell’s

For those of you who have been to Darrell’s, you might be thinking something along the lines of “this isn’t burger week.” But fear not, it’s still on this list for a reason: its world-class milkshakes. They’re so good that they’ve won best milkshake in Halifax for 9 years running. So next time you stop in for a burger, pair it with one of their shakes, and we promise you won’t regret it.
