The Mastermind That Threw a Party with Pizzas from Every NYC Pizzeria

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Cornell chapter.

Michael Cirino is the mastermind behind a razor, a shiny knife, an “educational, social and theatrical culinary experience” that hosts landmark events around the world. If there are food-related shenanigans going on, chances are Cirino and his crew have something to do with it. Check out these crazy events they’ve hosted around the world and cross your fingers you’ll end up on the next guest list.

A Casual 6-Course Gourmet Lunch (on the L train):

One Sunday afternoon, a razor, a shiny knife hosted a 6-course gourmet lunch…on the L train in NYC. Tables hung from the handrails and every few stops, servers rushed the train to bus tables and serve a new course. We’re talking gourmet meals too, complete with tea service and freshly ground black pepper. Watch the madness unfold:

Black Banquets:

For 100 euros, Cirino’s crew treated diners in London to an eight course meal comprised of only black foods (think blackberries, caviar) . Guests were escorted to their seats and served by waitstaff dressed in black couture gowns and suits, with black veils covering their mouths. Staff were not permitted to speak to guests and menus were not provided. In fact, the only way to figure out what you were eating was to find the mastermind, Michael Cirino himself.

A Locally Sourced Meal (kind of):

Cirino and team sourced everything for this meal within 250 miles of New York City—except for the food. Local craftsmen provided all of the cookware, utensils, plates, etc., but the food came from all over the world. His point? Buying food locally doesn’t cancel out the fact that the food might be cooked in Swedish pans, cut with Japanese knives, or packaged in China.

The World’s Most Epic Pizza Party:

On June 11, 2014 (the 125th birthday of Margherita pizza) a razor, a shiny knife rented out a warehouse in Brooklyn and ordered a pie from every pizzeria in Manhattan. How the hell did they pull it off? Watch below.

And some other outrageous pictures from the event:
