How to Shop, Cook and Eater Greener at Cornell

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Cornell chapter.

Note: This article would be extremely relevant for all those who’ve ever came into contact with food (ie. everyone).

Every year, October 24 is recognized in the United States of America as Food Day. To put it simply, it is a day that seeks to promote better food systems, encouraging the production of affordable, healthy and sustainable food. The theme this year is “Toward a Greener Diet.

At Cornell University, Food Day will be celebrating its 5th year running with a series of events spanning from October 27, 2015 to October 29, 2015.

Other that these events organized on campus, Real Food Cornell is also partnering with not only organizations dedicated to environmentalism and building a sustainable food system, but also worker organizations that aim to improve wages and working conditions for all workers along the food chain. Together, they aim to encourage Darden, the world’s largest full-service restaurant company, to offer greener menus at their restaurants and better wages for their workers. Those interested in showing support can sign the petition.
