Summer weather will be here any day now! And with summer comes a need for ice cream. Fortunately, Daiya has three allergen-friendly ice cream points for us to enjoy.
All Daiya products are free from dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. So, as a person who can’t eat dairy or soy, these products are a welcome addition to my kitchen.
I’ve previously tried some of Daiya’s ice cream bars, but when a representative reached out and asked if I was interested in tasting some of their ice cream pints, I couldn’t resist. Daiya also makes a classic vanilla creme ice cream pint, but I didn’t try that one this time.
Salted Caramel Chip
The salted caramel chip is a nice change from regular chocolate or vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is a caramel flavor that almost tastes like coffee ice cream. But that’s not what you’re here for. The caramel makes a second appearance as ribbons of caramel are mixed throughout the ice cream.
There are also little pieces of chocolate mixed into the ice cream. It gives off half-hearted sundae vibes with the caramel and chocolate chips in caramel ice cream, but it doesn’t really work for me. I also didn’t taste much of the sea salt that’s supposed to be there. I was interested in what that might taste like, but I think I’m pretty happy without salt in my ice cream.
Triple Fudge Chunk
The triple fudge chunk is probably my favorite flavor. The chocolate ice cream by itself is nothing fancy, but once you add in the chocolate pieces and the fudge, it’s going to take a lot of self-control not to eat the whole pint in one sitting.
The fudge, which you don’t see in a lot of grocery store ice creams, is rich and chocolatey. There’s a lot of it mixed into the ice cream. The chocolate pieces add in a nice bit of texture, and with that, it’s pretty hard to complain about triple chocolate ice cream!
