These Hyperrealistic Paintings of Food are Drool-Worthy

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BU chapter.

Erin Rothstein is the Toronto-based artist behind these mouthwatering works on canvas. Her signature hyperrealistic style is awe-worthy no matter the scale of the work (and some of it’s bigger than life).

Rothstein says that the foods she chooses to paint are “universally relatable”. She paints food because it’s the kind of subject that can “trigger people’s emotions on a very primal level”.

The first work I saw from Rothstein was of this bagel. And it’s not just any bagel, it’s a Montréal bagel. The Concordia University grad has a captive audience as foodie-culture continues to grow rapidly around the world. If you want a piece of this amazing work in your own home, she sells prints and even pillows with her work on them.

It’s easy to get lost in the beauty and detail of her paintings, just like you can in food. Check out more of Rothstein’s paintings on her website, Instagram, or on Facebook. You can even watch her paint these incredible works on her YouTube channel.
