What if I told you that you could save a human life while satisfying your sugar craving? At Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Blood Donor Center on Thursday, Feb. 25 you can snack on delicious cupcakes from Boston’s best bakeries for donating blood, a procedure that will take you no more than 15 minutes.

MGH Blood Donor Center offers blood donors a variety of cupcakes from Boston’s premier cupcake vendors like Lyndell’s Bakery, Cupcake City, Appleton Bakery, Party Favors, Yum Bunnies Cakery, South End Butter and Georgetown Cupcake. That’s a lot of free sweets in one place! In addition to the dessert, donors will also receive a long-sleeve shirt.

Why Donate Blood?

The need for blood affects us all, and the demand for vital blood donors remains constant. Organ transplantation, treatment of cancer, surgery, and many other medical procedures depend on the availability of safe and regular blood supply. Each donor donates 1 pint of blood – an amount that can help save up to 3 lives.

And while human body restores missing blood cells within six weeks, the blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.
