B.GOOD’s Latest Menu Is Perfect For A Hearty Winter Meal

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BU chapter.

“Where do you want to eat?” is always the trickiest question to get a solid answer from a group of friends. B.GOOD pioneers themselves to be the place that sells a wide range of food items that solves the dilemma. With their latest drop of menu items, complete with burgers, salads, and sandwiches, college students and working adults alike can drop by to feel the spirit of the warm holiday festivity.

A lil’ background about B.GOOD

The international food-chain strives to create healthy menu items that fill up your stomach without the gluttony feeling creeping afterward. B.GOOD has stores nationally, in Germany, Canada, and Switzerland, promoting their efforts in eating clean and responsible farming ethics by restoring a farm on Long Island in Boston Harbor called Hannah Farm in 2016. The restaurant does not use any preservatives in their products, so our bodies don’t feel sluggish after eating. Talk about a feel-good farm-to-table experience.

So, what’s new?

If there was ever a dish for both vegetarians and meat lovers, this is it. This year, executive chef Linh Aven of B.GOOD created the Eggplant Meatball Sub and as her first product launch for the restaurant chain. She was inspired to create a fun spin on the classic comfort food spaghetti and meatballs that’s actually good for the body. Besides, the current food movement is being mindful of what things to put in your body and nourishing ingredients.

Chef Linh’s innovation of the Eggplant Meatball Sub consists of B.GOOD’s signature eggplant meatballs, marinara sauce, sauteed onions, peppers and parmesan on a toasted baguette. The timely hearty dish loaded but it’s made with wholesome ingredients, perfect for the season as people tend to eat more during the holidays.

She chose eggplant as a substitution for the typical beef for the meatballs because they have a comparable texture. And it was true. Upon taking a bite of the sub, I had to do a double take in my mind to remind myself that there was no meat in the dish. The burst of flavor and the uneven, tender texture of the eggplant meatballs tasted just like meatballs, but better. The eggplant meatballs and the toasted baguette creates a unique combination of comfort and a renewed version of the usual spaghetti and meatballs

A meal is traditionally never complete without a drink. Chef Linh also debuted B.GOOD’s Peppermint Cocoa Crave, a Christmas-themed reboot of their original Cocoa Crave Smoothie. The blend of dark chocolate, banana, cocoa, coconut milk, mint, and honey is indulgent and guilt-free. The smoothie is a little runny but has a strong chocolatey, sweet and minty flavor nonetheless.

Specifically to the Downtown Crossing, Summer Street and Seaport Boston locations, the mint in the Peppermint Cocoa Crave come directly from B.GOOD’s very own Hannah Farm.

The chef behind the creative creations

The California native has a background in molecular biology and pastry-making before taking B.GOOD by storm in July 2018. She moved to Boston 10 years ago and did not look back. Chef Linh joked that her degree in molecular biology helps in rigorous note-taking and research for B.GOOD. At first, she was drawn to the company’s efforts to create a health-conscious menu that satisfies stomachs but aren’t overwhelming

B.GOOD’s menu changes seasonally according to which quarter of the year we are in, so there’s always something new to look forward to. While they keep the classics, be sure to look out for the latest menu items in the future. To keep track of their menu changes, B.GOOD launched a mobile app on both Apple and Android stores. What’s not to love about a company that promotes sustainable, healthy-eating and feeling good?
