So, if you haven’t heard (read: you live under a rock) of the amazingness that is “The Splat,” I don’t even know what to say. Splat is a new programming block/social media account/emoji keyboard that is bringing back a bunch of our favorite 90s shows (find the list here), and all ’90s kids can rejoice!
It’s premiering with a programming block on TeenNick October 5th, and in celebration, I’ve compiled a list of foods you need to eat in celebration (*Sadie’s voice* you’re welcome).
Major props to my ’90s loving big sis for help; she really is All That (#yesIwentthere #punitended). Also, as you may have figured out by now, I like coming up with foods to eat while watching your favorite TV shows.
1. Orange Soda
Who loves it? Kel. And you. Major #tbt.
2. Reptar Bars
Reptar Bars might be one of the most iconic foods from Rugrats. Angelica and the babies fought over them, used them as bribes, etc. I know they aren’t sold in stores, but people have come up with recipes of their own.
3, 4, and 5. Burgers, French Fries, Milkshakes
Welcome to Goodburger, home of the Goodburger, can I take your order? Though Goodburger isn’t a real restaurant (sob), you can still bring back the nostalgia by having your own Goodburgers, Good fries, and Goodshakes.
6 and 7. Cookies and Ice Cream
Hardly an episode went by without Angelica eating (or trying to sneak some) cookies. And ice cream. She even got them as rewards in Rugrats in Paris. Angelica knows what’s up.
8. Chocolate Pudding
Remember that iconic episode of Rugrats where Angelica *pretends* to break her leg so Stu and DiDi wait on her hand and foot? (Result: Chocolate pudding at 4 am.)
9. Strawberries and Bananas
Remember that Hey Arnold! episode when Arnold and Gerald dressed up as fruits for Helga’s play? Just don’t eat any pork products, you wouldn’t want to eat Abner!
10. Edible Slime
It’s not connected to a specific show, but the green slime is iconic. (And apparently edible, according to Mental Floss, the slime on Double Dare was made of applesauce, vanilla pudding, oatmeal, and green food coloring. I dare you to try it. #yesiwentthereagain
11. Fish and Bone-Shaped Cookies
Yes, you’ll probably have to make these. But come on, CatDog’s house is shaped like a fish and a bone stuck together.
12 and 13. Gummy Worms and Ants on a Log
Both Donnie from The Wild Thornberrys and Phil and Lil from Rugrats loved to eat bugs, so what better way to celebrate than by eating gummy worms. If you want to eat healthier, try ants on a log.
14. French Food
Celebrate the return of the Pierre Escargot sketch from All That while eating French food.
15. Dunkaroos (if you can find them)
I know they don’t have anything to do with Nickelodeon shows, but they’re a ’90s classic. BTW, if you can find them, let me know.
So, go and snack on. Feel like a kid again.
