When you think of burgers in Boston, the first thing that most people think of is Boston Burger Company. While BBC is amazing, it can also be super crowded and hard to get a table. Sometimes BBC seems like such a far walk from Newbury Street or the Prudential Center, too. When this is the case, there is another Boston burger place that will knock your socks off! 5 Napkin Burger is located on Huntington Avenue on the first floor of the Prudential Center in Boston. Get your napkins ready, because after this, you’re going to sprinting there in need of burgers.
The Burgers
The burgers at 5 Napkin are what gives it it’s unique name. These are not just any burgers, they are a “10oz of 100% natural angus chuck.” The juiciness of one of these burgers cooked to a medium rare perfection is what gives them their name, because you will need at LEAST five napkins to enjoy these burgers. The signature “5 Napkin Burger” comes topped with gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, and rosemary-garlic aioli. My personal favorite, however, is the “Truffle” burger (pictured above). The Truffle burger comes with taleggio, homemade ketchup, a fried egg, and black and white truffle butter. There are plenty more of these delectable burgers on the menu, as well as other options such as turkey burgers, tuna burgers, veggie burgers, and chicken burgers. To make things even better, all burgers are served on a homemade potato roll. Pair any of these with a side of fries, or sweet potato fries, and you simply cannot go wrong.
The Fries
Why only get fries with your burger when you can start off your meal with an appetizer of chili cheese fries!? These fries are smothered in a creamy cheddar cheese, with beef chili, sour cream, jalapeños and scallions. If that just is not enough fries for you, you can also order a side of regular or sweet potato fries to accompany your burger. If you don’t like fries? Start your meal with a tower (yes, a TOWER) of onion rings with the special “5 Napkin Sauce” and blue cheese dressing.
Other Options
Not quite feeling up to a burger? Don’t worry, there are plenty of other options for you! 5 Napkin also features four salad options, ranging from a burger salad to a kale salad, all of which have a choice in what protein is added onto the salad. If salad is too healthy for you, you can also try their chicken and waffles. Or even better, they’re open for brunch! That’s right, they are open for brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-4pm.
Dessert
If for whatever reason you are still unconvinced in trying 5 Napkin Burger, take a peak at the dessert menu. 5 Napkin has it all: lava cake, carrot cake, shakes, sundaes, cheesecake. They brag that the carrot cake is big enough for two (but that sounds like a challenge to us)! Save room because you’re going to want to try the entire dessert menu.
At 5 Napkin Burger, you will not be disappointed. Their restaurant is bright and airy, with simple, yet elegant decorations. Every time I have been, the service has been excellent, and the food has been incredible. And they do not joke about needing 5 Napkins for their burgers! So the next time you find yourself in the Prudential Center or on Newbury Street, give 5 Napkin Burger a try, you won’t regret it!
