The 36th Annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl is an event held in Boston every summer to support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. If you are in Boston this summer, this is an event that you will not want to miss, so we’re giving you four reasons to mark your calendars and buy a ticket for this year’s Scooper Bowl.
1. The Deal
Unlimited ice cream may sound too good to be true, but it’s not at the scooper bowl. To make it even better, the tickets are a steal! General admission tickets purchased online in advance are only $5 for children (ages 3-9) and $10 for adults. Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $10 for children and $15 for adults, and if you really feel like going all out, you can purchase a three-day Scooper Pass for $20 (which everyone should really look into). These deals are already great to begin with, but even better considering the proceeds will go towards fighting cancer and discovering a cure
2. The Ice Cream
While there is no such thing as bad ice cream, some ice cream vendors are definitely better than others, and the vendors coming to this year’s Scooper Bowl do not disappoint. At the scooper bowl you will find a dozen top notch ice cream vendors serving a whopping 55 flavors. Vendors include nation wide favorites such as Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, and Friendly’s, as well as some local Boston creameries including Rosev Dairy Foods, Vice Cream, and Beckon Ice Cream. Lactose intolerant? Don’t worry, there are still options for you. Lactaid, and Beckon Ice Cream will be serving lactose-free options and Häagen-Dazs will be serving a non-dairy option. Whatever your ice cream preferences are, the Scooper Bowl is sure to have it.
3. The Nightlife
For the first time this year, the Scooper Bowl will feature a Scoop@Night event. Scoop@Night will feature a string-lit exclusive area open to adults age 21 and up with a separate $30 admission ticket. This ticket will include unlimited ice-cream and two adult beverages. The Scoop@Night event will be held on June 7 from 5-8pm at the City Hall Plaza in Boston. Tickets for Scoop@Night can also be purchased online.
4. The Cause
While all you can eat ice cream is definitely a plus, the real reason you need to go to the Scooper Bowl is it benefits cancer research. The Jimmy Fund is an organization whose sole purpose is to support cancer care and research at Boston’s Dana Farber Cancer Institute. All proceeds from the event support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients. Buying a ticket for the Scooper Bowl is a great way to get involved, but if you want to do something more to support this great cause you can sponsor a patient to help send a patient and their family to the Scooper Bowl, or volunteer at this year’s Scooper Bowl.
Now you know everything you need to know about the 36th Annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl. Mark your calendar for June 5, 6, and 7 noon-8pm, and purchase your tickets in advance! This is going to be a great event you won’t want to miss.
