I used to think that the only place and time I could get decent perogies in Tucson was at Tucson Meet Yourself – an annual festival in Tucson to acknowledge the diverse cultures in the community. But, I was clearly wrong.
If you have any polish decent and want to explore more about your native background or just really love polish foods, then this is the place for you.
Polish Cottage is a small restaurant in Tucson that has authentic polish foods ranging from the basic hearty soups to the meaty, traditional Eastern European food.
But, their most popular dish for the lunch and dinner menus are perogies.
What are perogies?
For those of you who don’t know already, perogies are a steamed dumpling-type dish that usually has different types of fillings inside them.
Polish Cottage offers perogies with beef, potatoes, and cheese, Sauer kraut and mushroom, or sweet farmer’s cheese fillings. Yummy, right?
The perogies are sold by 8 pieces for $8.99, 10 pieces for $10.95 or 12 pieces for $12.90.
If you are in the area and feeling like getting some quick food, these perogies are a must-try and they have vegetarian options.
The best way to eat perogies is by dipping them in sour cream for an extra flavor added to your taste buds. Polish Cottage asks customers if they would like sour cream, caramelized onions or bacon on their perogies – and who doesn’t love bacon!
They also offer take-out for anyone in Tucson who doesn’t feel like dining out, but would still like a taste of Poland.
Best part? Perogies are a great meal if you aren’t feeling too hungry but will fill you up just enough for satisfaction. So, what are you waiting for? Go get some perogies and jeść (eat)!
