Tea is a very important aspect of Indian food culture. Tea and snacks go hand in hand. Indian teatime snacks can be light, sweet, spicy, sour, or even fried. They are usually served with mint chutney or tomato ketchup. People enjoy these snacks in the morning and evening throughout the world. Here’s a list of few teatime snacks that people enjoy the most.

1. Dhokla

Dhokla is one of the most famous vegetarian foods, which belongs to the state of Gujrat. It can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or as a side dish. Dhokla is prepared using a fermented batter made from rice and split chickpeas or sometimes gram flour. It is served with green chillies. 

2. Moong Dal Ladoo

Moong Dal Ladoo is a dish that is more commonly found in the streets of Delhi. They are made by frying the fermented Moong Dal (yellow lentils) batter. It is served with grated radish and mint chutney.

3. Raj Kachori

Raj Kachori is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Usually, potato and chickpeas are used as fillings and it’s often topped with bhujiya, namkeen, curd, tamarind sauce, and mint chutney. It has a sweet, sour, and spicy taste.

4. Bread Pakoda

Bread Pakoda is a quick snack enjoyed by many people throughout the world. It is best eaten with tea or coffee. It is a sandwich with potato filling, marinated with gram flour batter and deep fried. It tastes best with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.

5. Vada Pav

Vada Pav is a famous street food from Mumbai. It consists of a deep fried potato patty with different spices stuffed in a Pav. It is generally served with deep fried green chili, tomato ketchup, and dry garlic chutney. It can be also called an Indian Burger.

6. Dahi Bhalla

The flavors of Indian street food are mesmerizingly addictive and very hard to resist. Dahi Bhalla is one of them. The bhalla are prepared by deep frying the batter into small balls and soaking them in water for some time until they become soft. They are then served with a mix of curd, tamarind sauce, mint chutney, chopped coriander leaves, pomegranate seeds, and topped with namkeen or bhujiya.

Thinking of tea time always make us think of samosa. Samosa is the most famous Indian teatime snack around the world. It comes in many different kinds of fillings. Samosa is a triangular dish that is made by deep frying dough that’s filled with a potato stuffing. It is generally spicy and is served with mint chutney.
