My Dearly Beloved Fried Fridays,
I remember hearing great tales about you and all your glory when I was just a wee high schooler. I couldn’t wait to meet you. It was like I knew we were meant to be together. When I first locked eyes on you, I knew it was destiny. It was love at first sight.
Every Monday morning, I wake up thinking about how jam-packed and stressful my week ahead is. I think about my 9 ams, my tests and all the meetings I have to go to, but you are always there lurking in the back of my mind. Nothing brightens my day more than seeing your name written on our menu, reassuring that everything will be okay because once Friday rolls around, you will be sitting there in the kitchen ready to comfort me.
You never seize to amaze me, Fried Fridays. You are kind to everyone you know and know how to make someone smile. I especially love when you have curly fries. You’re such a showoff sometimes. I love you for that. You always put the hangry needs of us sorority girls before yourself and give everything you have for us. You’re truly inspiring.
I am so sorry for that one time I got a salad and some fruit. I walked right past you and didn’t even look your way. I hope you can forgive me. It was selfish of me to think that trying to get a six pack was worth it. I really missed you that day. You know I will never do that again.
My love, thank you for all the good times. You’ve got me through it all. Time and time again you’ve given me life after going out for Thirsty Thursdays, had too much to drink and woke up in the morning with a hangover that had me on the edge of survival. When I had a rough 9 am or I just failed a test, you were always there ready to comfort me too. You embrace me in your warm fried mac and cheese bites and then smother me with affection and your special sauce. You bring me closer to my sorority sisters as we bond over onion rings and try to piece together the events from the night before. You are filled with laughter and good times. I will never forget our times together. Here’s to many more years filled with love and full bellies.
See you this Friday!
Xoxo,
A Very Hungry Sorority Girl
