I’m sure you can relate to this if you are a twenty-something college kid or young adult out here in these streets just trying to get by. We’re broke, we’re tired and most importantly, we suck at dating. Lately, I couldn’t help but notice what a process it has become to text back that person you went on a date with last week. It’s seriously a lot to go through just to craft the perfect response to a simple “hey.”
I could sit here and preach to you about how you should wait for the “good” guy or girl, or how your worth is in who you are and not who you date, but we all know you’re going to stress about texting him or her back either way. So, here’s a drinking game for when you’re considering texting back.
Take a Sip Every Time:
– You ask your friends to decode the message you received
– You talk for more than 10 minutes about possible responses
– You actually type something out, but then delete it all
– You analyze every interaction you’ve ever had with this person in order to guess how much he or she actually likes you
Take a Shot Whenever:
– You check his or her social media to see if he or she is on their phone
– You reach out to your mutual friend to see if he or she has said anything about you
– You type out a response and then hold it up to your friends faces and say, “Is this OK?”
Finish Your Drink When:
– You turn on your read receipts just so that he or she knows you read it for the sole purpose of making him or her nervous
– You finally come to a conlusion on what you should say
– You actually send a text back
So there you have it, a little something to take the edge off, right? If you’re still stressin’ after this, then you probably should seek alternative methods of stress relief. Remember, this is all in good fun! Dating is hard, but seriously, just be yourself. I’ll be here sipping on a frozen marg.
