The 8 Best Cookies in NYC, Ranked

When I took the first bite into each of these cookies, I mentally lost awareness from the real world for a few minutes. It took me a while to get over their perfection and come back to consciousness. You have to try each of these cookies before you die.

Oatmeal Raisin FTW. Oatmeal raisin lovers, this one’s for you.

7. Sprinkles

The cupcake ATM is not the star of SprinklesThey have a sweet and salty cookie full of pretzels which tastes as good as it sounds. They know what they are doing when it comes to classic chocolate chip cookies, too.

6. Breads Bakery

The famous chocolate babka is not the only star of Breads Bakery. There is not a single thing that I have had there that disappoints me. Their cookies are the last things you see before making your purchase at the register. You have to get one. The bakery also makes their chocolate chip cookies with three different kinds of chocolates.

5. Seven Grams Caffe

Nutella cookie. Need I say more? They have other options, but everything is better with Nutella (just as everything is better with bacon). You won’t regret it.

4. Boulton & Watt

You know it’s serious when it’s served in a skillet. It’s seriously killer good.

3. Schmackary’s

Not so classic. Among the many options are Sch’mores, The Hangover, and Maple Bacon. You can’t go wrong. Check out their weekly cookie calendar.

2. Levain Bakery

Levain Bakery has chocolate chip walnut cookies, comparable to deep dish Chicago-style pizza. When you are satisfying a cookie craving, you are going all in with the chocolate chip walnut cookie. The walnuts really make it. It is a mystery how they manage to give you a truly crunchy outside and the complete opposite on the inside. Warning: cookie coma guaranteed after finishing this cookie.

1. Culture Espresso

I intended to cure my need for caffeine, and then smelled the freshly-baked cookies. I wasn’t even hungry, but minutes later, I found my plate scraped clean. With these cookies, you get crisp as you bite and that warm, soft, dangerously chocolatey center. It’s so good that you can’t stop eating it. Plus, you get chocolate with every bite. They have, without a doubt, the chocolatiest chocolate chip cookie in New York City.

Above all, Megan Peterson is a foodie. Thanks to her travels while dancing and performing, Megan knows New York City's Restaurant scene uptown and down. At her workplace, the dance studio, she is often asked "Where do I get a burger and a milkshake around here?" and "Is there any place that is reasonably priced, with great drinks, near midtown?" That lead Megan to gather her collection of foodie photos and give birth to FOODIE OUT LOUD where your struggle to find restaurants ends in NYC, NJ and other major cities.
