High Noon’s Tequila Seltzers Are Here & They’re My New Favorite Drink

As a self-proclaimed tequila girlie, I’m always on the lookout for new products that incorporate my drink of choice. It seems like so many brands have also been hopping on the tequila train recently. Hornito’s has a tequila seltzer, and Topo Chico sells Margarita Seltzer Cans. The latest addition to the tequila seltzer conversation is High Noon, with brand new seltzers made with real blanco tequila and real fruit juice. So, when the opportunity to try them for myself landed in my lap, obviously I couldn’t resist.

The original Vodka 8-pack contains four flavors: pineapple, grapefruit, watermelon, and black cherry. But since their inaugural year in 2019, the brand has expanded to selling themed packs that include flavors like kiwi in their “Pool Pack” and cranberry in their “Tailgate Pack.” High Noon’s tequila seltzers still has the original grapefruit flavor, and also adds lime, strawberry, and passionfruit to the mix in the same standard 8-pack.

Much like the original High Noon Vodka Hard Seltzers, the new beverages have a similar colorful, summertime-themed packaging — every can has the iconic logo with a cartoonish image of the fruit flavor you’re about to taste when you crack it open. They are also gluten-free, have no added sugar, and are 100 calories. As someone who cut gluten out of my diet fairly recently, I know how difficult it can be to navigate alcohol, but High Noon makes it easy by clearly labeling every can.

The Taste Test

Now, onto the question I’m sure you’ve been wanting the answer to — are they any good? I’ll take you through each flavor and give you my thoughts — spoiler alert, they’re all amazing in their own right.

Strawberry

Normally I’m a “save the best for last” type of person, but I couldn’t resist trying strawberry, my favorite fruit, first. At the first sip, I knew this would end up being my favorite flavor — it almost tastes like someone juiced a bunch of fresh strawberries and poured them right into the can.

Passionfruit

Next up was passion fruit, and I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of this one at first. High Noon says the flavor has “a hint of tropical flair and real passion fruit flavor,” and although I’ve never had passion fruit on its own, the tropical notes definitely came through.

Grapefruit

I decided to try grapefruit next because — much like strawberry — I had a feeling I’d really like lime so I wanted to save that one for last. Normally I’m not a huge fan of citrus flavors besides lime, but the grapefruit blended so nicely with the tequila that I got on board immediately. If you love citrus, grapefruit is for sure going to be your new favorite flavor.

Lime

Finally, I made my way to lime — and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. As soon as I cracked open the can, I got the lime scent immediately. High Noon describes it as “a burst of fresh citrus notes and aroma,” and the word “burst” could not have been more accurate. Because a traditional margarita is lime-flavored, I had high expectations for this one, and I think it comes pretty close to replicating the drink in seltzer form.

Since their inception in 2019, High Noon has only been growing — from the summer of 2020 to the summer of 2021, the brand saw a growth of 316%. While the seltzer’s growth can definitely be attributed to their incredible flavor, it also doesn’t hurt that they formed a media partnership with Barstool Sports back in 2020. If you follow Barstool Sports’ President Dave Portnoy or any of the media giant’s associated accounts, you’ve definitely seen the beverage promoted massively. Portnoy’s profile picture on Instagram right now is the new High Noon Tequila, and since the product’s launch he’s been hyping it up virtually every day.

As a whole, I think High Noon has a new hit on their hands, and they’ve released the new drinks just in time for summer. “Tequila continues to gain momentum and is one of the fastest growing spirits in the market,” Britt West, SVP & General Manager of Spirit of Gallo (High Noon’s parent company) said in a press release. “The debut of the High Noon Tequila Seltzer 8-pack comes at a time where tequila enthusiasts are craving the opportunity to enjoy their favorite spirit without having to compromise on convenience or taste. With tequila coming to the High Noon family, our sun continues to rise higher and shine brighter.” The brand saw an opportunity to expand and seized it, and I’m so glad they did. They can definitely count on me as a fan — I can see myself now sitting poolside this summer with my new favorite seltzer in hand.
