I Tried The Viral Starbucks Cherry Mocha & It’s My New Favorite Drink

Spring has sprung, and so has the new Starbucks spring menu. Along with returning favorites like the Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Latte, the coffee company also debuted a brand new Iced Cherry Chai Latte with Cherry Cream Cold Foam. Luckily for non-Chai fans, the fruity foam can be added to a variety of drinks to make new secret menu concoctions, including the Starbucks Cherry Mocha. As a Starbies stan, chocolate lover, and someone who will never shy away from a viral secret menu item, I knew this new cherry coffee drink would be right up my alley.

How do I order the new Starbucks Cherry Mocha?

Even though the Starbucks Cherry Mocha is technically a secret menu item and not officially available on the menu, this custom beverage is super easy to order. Just ask your barista for an Iced Caffè Mocha of your desired size with any customizations you prefer (I order mine with non-dairy milk) and no whipped cream. Then, add Cherry Cream Cold Foam and Cherry Crunch Topping for the ultimate springtime little sweet treat.

Is the new Starbucks Cherry Mocha good?

I’ve mentioned before that I’m not the biggest fan of fruity flavors, but the Iced Starbucks Cherry Mocha genuinely left me speechless. The rich mocha sauce is so luxurious, and it’s complemented so well by the juicy and sweet cherry topping. Neither flavor is too overpowering, though, and the flavor of the bold espresso that Starbucks is known for shines through beautifully.

This drink gives major Black Forest cake vibes and is such a fun little drink for spring. Each sip is full of delicious flavor that, tbh, tastes like dessert more than a cup of coffee. While I tend to order my coffee black (and the darker and stronger the roast, the better) and steer clear of fruity sweeteners, I downed my Grande and seriously contemplated going back for seconds — it’s just that good.

How much does the Starbucks Iced Cherry Mocha cost?

Buckle up, because this drink is, well, cherry price-y. A Grande Iced Caffè Mocha retails for $6.65 at Starbucks without any customizations, which is pretty on-par for a handcrafted espresso beverage. Adding the Cherry Cream Cold Foam, though, means adding an additional $1.25 to the price, while the Cherry Crunch Topping is an extra 50 cents.

With the customizations, the Iced Starbucks Cherry Mocha costs $8.40 before tax — my drink was $9.15 in total in the NYC area. While I loved this drink, I’m not sure I can justify spending almost $10 on it. But, it’s a fun splurge, and I’d definitely skip the Cherry Crunch Topping to save a few cents next time.

Can you order a hot Starbucks Cherry Mocha?

Hot coffee lovers can also get in on the chocolate cherry fun. Rather than adding Cherry Cream Cold Foam to an Iced Mocha, just ask for cherry sweet powder to be added to your hot Caffè Mocha.

How much does the hot Starbucks Cherry Mocha cost?

The hot Caffè Mocha is a touch cheaper than the iced version, clocking in at $6.45 before any customizations. The addition of the sweet cherry powder costs $1, making the drink $7.45 in total — not a bad deal for a specialty espresso beverage.

Plus, if you’re really feeling crazy, you can add Cold Foams to hot drinks, even though it might melt into the beverage pretty quickly. If you want to add Cherry Cream Cold Foam to your hot mocha, it’ll cost $1.50 — bringing your hot Cherry Mocha to $7.95.
