Pickles are having a moment right now, and tbh, rightfully so. From products like pickle wine and pickle mochi ice cream to TikTok trends such as Dua Lipa’s Diet Coke and the chickle, pickling everything is, well, kinda a big dill. As polarizing as the flavor is for some, the die-hard pickle lovers (myself included) keep demanding more. Sandwiches? Yes. Soda? Gimme more. Ice Cream? Why not. The one pickle item that was not on my bingo card, though? Pickle toothpaste.
What is pickle toothpaste?
In honor of National Pickle Day on November 14, Grillo’s Pickles teamed up with dental hygiene brand Boka to create a limited-edition cucumber dill toothpaste. The fluoride-free, dentist-approved formula features nano-hydroxyapatite, a fluoride substitute and Boka’s signature ingredient, alongside a briny, sweet, and tangy flavor that’s surprisingly refreshing.

“I thought it would be a nice stocking stuffer, a gag gift, you know—but it actually tastes good. It’s cucumber dill. It’s actually quite refreshing,” Eddie Andre, Grillo’s VP of Branding, admitted to FastCompany. As skeptical as I was, I have to agree with Andre.
What does Grillo’s pickle toothpaste taste like?
Grillo’s Spears are the best pickle I’ve ever had, period, and as a self-proclaimed pickle lover and true believer of “don’t know it ‘til you try it,” I knew I had to get my hands on the new pickle toothpaste. I’m not an adventurous toothpaste person (mint only at the dentist, and none of the cookie dough or root beer flavors for me) so had no idea what to expect from pickle toothpaste.
According to the package, Cucumber Dill Boka is a “flavor that excites the palate and awakens the senses” with sweet, tangy, and briny flavors reminiscent of a Grillo’s pickle. Imo, pickles are the antithesis of minty fresh breath, but I decided to give it a go.
Is Grillo’s pickle toothpaste good?
I love pickles, and I assumed (fairly!) that Grillo’s toothpaste would taste like, well, Grillo’s pickles. Instead, the slightly savory toothpaste was light and refreshing, and may I dare say delightful. The cucumber flavor shone, and it reminded me of refreshing cucumber-infused water. Then, the toothpaste had just a hint of dill, and the herbaceous notes complemented the cucumber while also adding a little refreshing zing.
My teeth felt clean, my mouth felt refreshed, and the Grillo’s x Boka pickle-inspired toothpaste was an extremely enjoyable dental hygiene experience, believe it or not. I am not ashamed to admit that I have since used the toothpaste multiple times, and may have even bullied some non-pickle lovers into trying it, too.
Where can I buy Grillo’s pickle toothpaste?
You can purchase the new Grillo’s x Boka Cucumber Dill n-Ha Toothpaste collaboration via Boka’s website for $13, or a double pack for $24. If you’re looking for a dentist-approved stocking stuffer for the pickle-lover on your list, this pickle-flavored toothpaste is a great way to spread some Christmas spear.
