Where to Get the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie in Houston

If you’re anything like me, you can probably agree that a delicious cookie can heal the soul. Whether I just failed a test or simply need a pick-me-up, taking that first bite into a warm, chewy, cookie fixes all of my problems. Luckily for me, I live in Houston, a place with no shortage of my favorite, classic chocolate chip cookies.

Houston, a metropolis for food, is the perfect city if you love trying new things; there is no shortage of restaurants, with new and trendy ones opening every week. Because of this, it was not hard to find many places that served top-notch cookies in the city.

For me, a top-notch cookie must meet a few requirements: it must be chewy, large or thick in size, and have a sufficient cookie-to-chocolate chip ratio. If a cookie checks off all of these, there’s no doubt that it will have me craving it for weeks to come. Through many trials, I hereby have the final list of where to find your perfect cookie in the wonderful city of Houston.

Tiny’s Milk & Cookies

Tiny’s Milk & Cookies, a concept of Tiny Boxwood’s, is the spot for chocolate chip cookies in Houston. Located in the relaxed West University neighborhood, Milk & Cookies is a walk-up spot where you will oftentimes see locals riding their bikes, walking their dogs, or taking a nighttime stroll in order to satisfy their cookie cravings. The cookie at Milk & Cookies is warm, thick, and melts in your mouth. The chocolate-to-cookie ratio is perfection, and the richness will have you satisfied after one bite.

Common Bond

Common Bond is a trendy cafe and bakery located in Houston’s hip Montrose area. Upon arrival, you are greeted by rows and rows of beautiful artisan pastries. Among these is their near perfect chocolate chip walnut cookie. It is very thick, and it has the ultimate ratio of chocolate to ooey center. And don’t let the walnuts scare you—they add the perfect crunch to this chewy cookie.

Barnaby’s Cafe

Barnaby’s Cafe is a favorite among Houstonians for any meal. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are far from short of dish options. After enjoying a filling meal from Barnaby’s, 10 out of 10 would highly recommend indulging in one of their delicious cookies. The cookies at Barnaby’s are big enough to be satisfying, and they are perfectly chewy, thick, and super chocolatey.

The Chocolate Bar

The Chocolate Bar is exactly what it sounds like: a dessert bar serving all-things-chocolate. This dessert spot is located in Rice Village, perfect for an after-dinner treat or a break from shopping. Since The Chocolate Bar is the place for sweets, their cookies do not disappoint. One thing that sticks out about their chocolate chip cookies is their large size. These cookies are massive! You can trust that a cookie from The Chocolate Bar will have the best chocolate chips in it, too.

Three Brothers Bakery

Three Brothers Bakery is one of the most traditional bakeries in Houston. Here, you will find anything from freshly baked challah, the best gingerbread man in town, birthday cakes, and of course, chocolate chip cookies. In my opinion, Three Brothers Bakery can do no wrong, and their cookies are no exception. If I were to describe these cookies in a phrase, it would definitely be “just how grandma used to make it”. If you’re in the mood for a classic cookie, Three Brothers Bakery is the place to go.

Whenever you’re craving a chocolate chip cookie, make sure to try any of the Houston spots I’ve listed. Each one of the chocolate chip cookies has its own special features, but all will leave you with the same joyful feelings.
