If you are a sandwich lover, look no further than one of my favorite hidden gems around the Rutgers area, Scarlet 158! A short walk from Easton Avenue, this Latina-owned restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel like sitting in your friend’s kitchen. With a large variety of mouthwatering dishes ranging from tortas to omelets, I’m positive you’ll find something you love!

Do not get me wrong, I love all the dishes I have tried so far at Scarlet 158, but at the end of the day, I have a soft spot for a delicious sandwich. From its buffalo chicken sandwich with a big kick to a savory chicken parmesan sub, you can’t go wrong with a Scarlet 158 sandwich. My personal favorite sandwich is its crispy chicken and Mexican chipotle served with deliciously seasoned fries. This sandwich has beautifully cooked chicken, fresh vegetables, and an amazing chipotle sauce, all topped off on a brioche bun.

Its chicken parmesan is most notably served on toast, a fun and unique spin on the normal subroll. With the perfect amount of sauce and cheese, this sandwich will satisfy you even on your hungriest days.

If you aren’t a sandwich consignor like I am, I also recommend its tacos. Whether you go for the Carne Asada (grilled beef) or Pollo (chicken), you’ll be in heaven after the first bite. Mouthwatering meat, crunchy lettuce, and radish served on a soft tortilla with a side of lime and salsa verde, this light and hearty meal will have you coming back for more.
