Zaxby’s Joins the Downtown Athens Food Scene

As of Monday, you can now satisfy your Zaxby’s cravings while you’re out on the town. This fast-food fav moved into the space on East Clayton Street formerly occupied by the men’s clothing store George Dean’s.

Part of the profits from the grand opening (which even included a ribbon-cutting) were donated to Downtown Academy, a private school on Pulaski St. The first 100 people to walk through the doors into aroma heaven received all kinds of perks, so if you weren’t there, you missed out.

It was an #IndescribablyGood morning in Athens! We opened our newest location in the heart of downtown with special guests from #DowntownAcademy. There was even an appearance by @UGAAthletics Hairy Dawg! If you’re ever in our neck of the woods, we hope you’ll come see us!

The good news is it’s open now and waiting for you to pig out on some chicken fingers or prep for spring break with a Zalad.

Zaxby’s is taking advantage of the recent departures of downtown restaurants (think: NONA, East West Bistro, Your Pie) and staking their claim in the foodie scene. Another restaurant that’s getting in on the action is Zombie Coffee & Donuts which will take over Your Pie’s former space at the end of March.

In case the cravings are real but you’re not downtown, five other Zaxby’s are here in Athens to support you – Barnett Shoals Road, Hull Road, West Broad Street, Epps Bridge Parkway, and Atlanta Highway.
