We now have yet another way to avoid leaving our houses this winter: Yelp acquired Eat24, an online food ordering app, for $134 million last week. Eat24, like GrubHub or Caviar, allows users to use their cell phone or computer to order food from restaurants nearby. Before the acquisition, Eat24 included about 20,000 restaurants in its service. With Yelp’s help, it will soon have access to the over one million restaurants currently in Yelp’s database. With the assistance of Eat24, Yelp is one step closer to achieving its goal of directly connecting customers to local businesses. A timeline on the full integration of the two companies has yet to be released, but lazy students everywhere have a lot to be excited about.
