With summer quickly approaching, we’re all looking for a way to fight off the incoming heat waves (Richmond, I’m looking at you). Some of our best summer memories as kids include biting into an ice cold popsicle, only to eventually be covered in a sticky assortment of colors. King of Pops just released the holy grail of popsicle flavors, turning Girl Scout cookies into popsicles. Amen.
The flavors are Trefoil Tiramisu, Samoa Coconut Caramel, Thin Mint Chocolate Chip, and Tagalong Peanut Butter Banana. Obviously, if you’re going to try one, you’re going to try them all, and King of Pops conveniently sells two of all four flavors in pop packs for $25 with free samples. After trying all four, here are my rankings.
4. Trefoil Tiramisu
The Trefoil cookie is just a plain shortbread cookie, so to add a twist, King of Pops turned it into tiramisu. It was a good idea in thought, however, soaking the trefoil cookie didn’t hold up in the popsicle and lost all the flavor of the original cookie. And obvi the cookie is the most important part.
Not to mention the popsicle didn’t exactly photograph well, and we all know we’re eating for the Insta. Even though the whole enchilada didn’t exactly end well, the base was really simple and nicely complemented the chocolate bits and other tiramisu flavors in the popsicle.
3. Tagalong Peanut Butter Banana
This popsicle was a very interesting twist on the Tagalong cookie that used a banana and peanut butter ice cream as the base for the popsicle.
We all know we gotta get that beach bod ready for dirty Myrtle. By using bananas in the base, the whole popsicle had a more healthy taste. Not to mention the combination was super #trendy. The banana flavor was definitely more noticeable than the peanut butter, so you’re basically tricking your body into thinking you’re eating fruit… exactly what I told myself as I devoured my third popsicle of the day.
Once I got that perfect bite of chocolate, peanut butter and banana, I just about melted faster than these popsicles. Haha, get it?
2. Samoa Coconut Caramel
Another fan favorite, the popsicle version was just as incredible. For this one, they used a coconut-flavored ice cream, which complemented the samoas nicely as the cookie doesn’t give off a strong of a coconut flavor. The first bite of this popsicle made you feel like you got hit in the face with a coconut. Literally.
One complaint: too much ice cream and not enough cookie. For future reference, when King of Pops decides to tag me into their suggestion committee, the next one should have more caramel in the ice cream. @KingofPops, hit me up.
1. Thin Mint Chocolate Chip
We all know this is by far the best Girl Scout cookie flavor out there (#SpoonTip: Freeze thin mints before eating them), so it’s no surprise that this was the winning popsicle flavor. In King of Pop’s version, they took mint ice cream and put the thin mints right inside for a chocolatey-mint party in your mouth.
Disclaimer: If you don’t like thin mints, then there’s no way you like Girl Scout cookies, nor puppies, nor anything that’s good in life and you should probably just stop reading now.
For this being their first shot at Girl Scout cookie popsicles, I have to applaud King of Pops for hands down the best popsicles I’ve ever had. I never thought it was possible, but they honestly made me wish I was a Girl Scout so I could have heavy access to cookies any time, anywhere.
For all of you out there who are still mourning the loss of Girl Scout cookie season, head to King of Pops ASAP and get your Girl Scout cookie fix. King of Pops: Be sure to hit us up when the next round comes out, because we all know I’m gonna be the first in line and will down all the flavors in under 30 minutes (again).
