Coffee is a great way to spend a first date. It allows for optimal conversation, and you don't have to worry about getting food stuck in your teeth or spaghetti sauce on your face. The Happy Cappuccino is a charming little coffee shop on Jay Street in Schenectady (as well as in the Crossgates Mall) with a menu of locally brewed iced and hot coffee. The location is also ideal for a stroll through Jay Street afterwards.

Canvas, Corks and Forks - Most Entertaining

With a combination of wine, paint, and a mac and cheese bar, Canvas, Corks and Forks is perfect if you want to get away from the traditional dinner date scene. Bring out your creative side and see who can come out with the best looking painting!

It consists of eight different restaurants to choose from, so whether you're feeling pizza or seafood or basically anything in between, you can go there without worrying about your date not liking the food.

Slidin' Dirty - Fun and Casual

Slidin' Dirty has only been open in Schenectady since the beginning of summer 2017, and has created a buzz throughout the community ever since. This upbeat gem located right on State Street has a really fun menu filled with different types of sliders, award winning mac and cheese, as well as a wide range of beer, wine, and cocktails. It's the perfect place to break the ice in a casual and social way.

Jumpin' Jacks - Best Fast-Food

Typical American-style comfort food, Jumpin' Jacks is the perfect place to go during the summertime. Located right on the Mohawk river, this 80's style Drive-In provides you with all the goods - including hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, and more. In addition, they also host water-ski shows and fireworks, guaranteeing a good time.

More Perrecas - Best Breakfast Spot

Breakfast dates are usually the best dates, and More Perrecas doesn't disappoint. It's a super popular spot on the weekends and will satisfy all of your breakfast cravings. If you feel like spicing up the date, be sure to try their Eggs in Purgatory.

Bumpy's - Best Ice Cream

Ice cream is always a good idea when it comes to first dates. You can learn a lot about a person by the type of ice cream they like, so take them to Bumpy's for assurance of true compatibility.  Oh, and did I mention they have bumper boats? Count me in.

With all of these options, you'll be able to say goodbye to the first date jitters. There are so many different spots to choose from throughout Schenectady, and they definitely have the potential to land you a second date.
