I Tried All The Boba Places In Davis to Rank My Top 5 Drinks

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UCD chapter.

Before coming to college, I honestly hated boba. I really didn’t get what the big deal was. It wasn’t until my second year of college that I really started to get into the hype and succumbed to the peer pressure. All the cool kids were drinking it, and now my boba addiction continues to take a good chunk of my money on a weekly basis. So after trying all of the boba places in Davis, here’s a list of my top 5 drinks.

5. Almond Black Milk Tea from Brick Toast Café

It is super convenient to come here for boba if you live in West Village. This drink is pretty light and doesn’t have a super strong bitter tea flavor. If you’re not into the fruity flavors, this drink is perfect for you. The Almond Black Tea is always my go-to drink here!

4. Panda Milk Tea from Gong Cha

Honestly, I only tried this drink because of the name, but I ended up really liking it. My caffeine tolerance is super low, so it always keeps me up when studying. This drink is basically a black milk tea with white and black boba. I love the texture of the white boba, which is probably the best part of the drink for me.

3. Coconut Blizzard with Boba from Teabo

It’s kind of like a mixture between a milkshake and a slushy. It’s creamy and icy at the same time. I really dig the blizzards and have tried lychee and hazelnut, but the coconut one is my favorite.

2. Okinawa Milk Tea with Egg Pudding and Boba from Mandro

I love the Okinawa milk tea from Mandro, and Mandro only. It’s a black milk tea with brown sugar flavoring. The tea is very flavorful, and the egg pudding adds to the creaminess.

1. Vanilla Iced Milk with Boba and Egg Pudding from Mandro

This is my all-time favorite boba drink in Davis. The drink itself has no tea, and is basically just sweet milk. It’s relatively simple, but a must-try. The boba texture here is perfect for my liking, not too soft or too hard. It’s pretty sweet (so request less sweetness if that’s your preference), and it works really well with the textures of both the egg pudding and the boba.

u wonder why they call me OG? it's because of my initials LOL
