They are a locally-owned soup and sandwich shop located on Sunnyside Ave. and Seneca St. – which (lucky for you) is right up the street from Carleton University. Sunnyside’s is a small family business that opened up in September 2014 as “Raven’s Soup & Sandwich,” but recently underwent a huge renovation, where they became “Sunnyside’s Soup and Subs.”
As we all know, sandwiches are pretty great. However, sandwiches for $7.00 or less are even better. This is exactly what Sunnyside’s offers, a variety of different sandwiches and subs served on a fresh Portuguese bun with your choice of an unlimited number of toppings for an extremely affordable price.
#SpoonTip: ask for Italian dressing on your sub for an extra burst of flavour

They feature five signature all-day breakfast sandwiches and subs, including “The Hangover,” which is so good that it’s guaranteed to help you with your post-drinking aftermath. The others are vegetarian subs and salads, three different loaded club sandwiches, grilled cheese, and six different hot or cold subs.

And I promise you, these sandwiches are well worth your money. Not only are they absolutely delicious and filling, but they are the perfect in-class snack. They are portable, they stay extremely fresh. They’ll fuel you for the rest of your day, and the tomatoes never make the bread too soggy. They’re perfect.

If you’re not in the mood for a sub, they also offer fresh homemade soups made daily, including innovative soups like chicken chickpea, meatball soup, and beef noodle, as well as the classics such as chicken noodle, and a loaded vegetable soup. So, if you feel like taking a break from soup that comes out of a can, head over to Sunnyside’s for a $3 bowl or take it to go for the exact same price.

If that’s not enough to convince you to walk up the street to Sunnyside’s, they also feature daily specials which typically include a sub (either featured on the menu or a special off-the-menu one) paired with a soup. These subs include pulled pork, barbecue chicken, a Philly cheesesteak, a pizza sub, and many more.
The best part? These specials range from only $7-9.
Sunnyside’s Soup and Subs is the perfect place to eat-in or eat-out. Their savoury soups and mouth-watering subs and sandwiches make for a super affordable breakfast and lunch. You will leave with a full stomach and even feel a little sunnier (no pun intended).
