The Restaurant Serving NYC’s Best Queso

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at NYU chapter.

Calling all queso-enthusiasts and the Tex-Mex obsessed: Javelina, a hopping brunch, happy hour, and dinner destination between South Park Ave and Irving place on East 18th Street is the ultimate place to fulfill that relentless queso craving (even if you didn’t realize you had one).

Javelina offers a wide range of Tex-Mex dishes, but you need to go just for the queso dip. Don’t deny it—your mouth is watering at the idea of a hot bowl of melted cheese.

Although once you’ve tried the queso here, you’ll be forever changed. Ooey, gooey, and a whole lot of cheesy, Javelina offers two different types of queso: traditional yellow or white. But they don’t stop there. For the next-level queso lovers, Javelina also offers two more quesos, named “Mag Mud” and “Bob Armstrong”.

WARNING: you may fall in love. Brace yourself.

“Mag Mud” includes white queso, black beans, pico de gallo and guacamole. And, “Bob Armstrong” can be ordered with traditional yellow or white queso that’s poured on top of guacamole, ground beef, pico de gallo, and sour cream. All their quesos dips are served with freshly made, crunchy tortilla chips.

Now, you may be questioning how normal your obsession with queso is at this moment, but the last time I went into Javelina, I overheard the hostess filling an order for a quart of the stuff. Seriously. This is possible through their catering service. And, no, there’s never such thing as too much queso, especially when it’s from Javelina.
